Amazon still mixes its own inventory with third party inventory.

Edit: why thumb down on a fact? Amazon mixes their own and third party (FBA) inventory to basically use them as cost-free safety stock at the expense of potentially selling counterfeits.

You're absolutely dead wrong. They co mingle their own stock with 3rd party stock they keep at their warehouses. You really think they have some magical special place where only items that came from the manufacturer are placed? Everything is based on barcode and if it scans correctly it goes into the box shipped to you. It doesn't matter where it came from. Otherwise how would you explain the numerous reports of people getting fake memory cards shipped directly from Amazon? And Amazon doesn't care one lick about your fake memory card if they can make billions charging sellers AND buyers. And as anecdotal evidence when I brought up my issue with my fake card that I bought directly from Amazon they couldn't have cared less. Since it was past 30 days they initially refused to do anything. I had to elevate it several times until I finally received a refund. And they didn't care one bit that the issue was that I had received a fake memory card shipped directly from them. I was surprised until I did some digging and found this was a huge widespread problem and that they know about it but don't do anything about it. Sure they'll throw a bunch of 3rd party sellers under the bus and ban them and god forbid some poor sap that makes a living as a third party seller be one of those people. Their entire source of income is gone in a flash with no recourse and Amazon pats themselves on the back for stopping counterfeit goods while willfully continuing a practice that lets counterfeit goods permeate their own stock. Just so they can double charge people.

Oh yeah and when I wrote a review stating that Amazon sold me a counterfeit memory card they took the review down. So take that what it's worth. Didn't they just ban some major third party manufacturers for encouraging people to leave a review? As far as I know they couldn't selectively delete negative reviews yet Amazon does exactly that….

Yep. Been burned before. Bought from directly Amazon. Didn't know until a year later. It doesn't matter they know about this issue but don't care. They continue to comingle their stock with 3rd party sellers. I only buy from Best Buy and B&H now.

The seller is amazon
Which means exactly nothing.

The commingling of inventory means fakes get mixed with real.

I'm glad more people realize this now. A couple years ago when I used to come in and say this same thing and people used to totally dismiss me. Sad that Amazon absolutely refuses to change their practice though. Someone has to pay for those rocketships.

I remember buying an 80GB HDD for my desktop computer and thinking, "I'll never fill it up, but it's a good deal."

And here's more than 10x that space smaller than a postage stamp.laugh out loud

When will we see the first 2 TB microSD cards?
No time soon. The 1tb card only has 0.3% of the market right now.

Sorry to say but that article clearly states Fulfilled By Amazon items which if everyone knew by now that those aren't comingled you really should.

Items sent directly from Amazon.com definitely go through a very specific shipping and labeling channel and has a much higher bar for dealing with counterfeits. And even then if you manage to get a bad one Amazon is way more likely to make it right compared to one sold through a 3rd party.

i don't think the approach should be "DONT BUY SD CARDS FROM AMAZON!?!?!" i think it should be more "here's h2testw, samsung memory card authentication, be sure to test the sd cards before you use them so you don't lose data." i always use h2testw on every card, and the ~20 cards i've gotten the past year off amazon have been legit(or at least haven't lied about the storage size.) i pay for prime and i'm gonna use it lol, best buy's by my house are usually oos anyway.

Yeah seriously, I've bought hundreds of products (including micro SD cards) on Amazon and the very couple times they've messed up they've always sent a replacement with zero hassle. One such thing was a table that had various forms of a cracked leg or a scratch there. They shipped and returned me a new table FOUR times. I know of maybe one other online retailer is willing to do anything remotely that generous.
