Rheem Performance Platinum 50 Gal. 10-Year Hybrid High Efficiency Smart Tank Electric Water Heater $999

Home Depot has 50 gallon Rheem hybrid heat-pump water heaters for $999 when setting store location to zip code 21704 and selecting "Ship to Home". Price may vary by location but after reviewing several other posts this zip code seems to give the biggest instant discount from the regular price of $1699. Depending on your location you may be eligible for additional rebates from your utility company. Here are the steps I took to get the deal:

1) Go to Homedepot.com [homedepot.com]
2) Enter zipcode "21704" in the top left and click "Select this Store" under the Frederick, MD location
3) Price should update to "$999.00" ($700 off)
4) Click "Ship to Home" (NOTE: Do NOT hit "Scheduled Delivery"; price will revert back to $1699); if you're local you could also pick up in store to save shipping costs
5) Check-out as normal with your address

My final price was $999 + 68.04 (tax) + 135 (shipping with in home placement) = $1202.04. Your final cost will vary based on your shipping selection and local tax. Lowest shipping is $75 for delivery to front porch or stoop; I opted for the in-home placement since these units are too large and heavy for me to move myself.

Almost thinking about buying 2... but the dumb venting accessories are more than 300 per set.

Any idea on a ballpark figure on the install cost on one of these? Seems like the big difference between my old one is the drain line. Current one is in the garage against outside wall.

If you have gas yes. But this is electric. This is the best solution you can get for an electric house. Love mine. Had it 5 years now.

When I got mine (4 years ago) the rebates were thru our electric company (Ameren in my case). So you'd want to check with municipal / state / energy providers / etc... and these will be specific to your location/home. At the federal level, last I saw was a tax credit thru end of 2021, but they seem to consistently retroactively extend these as time goes on.

If you buy this, be prepared to deal with excessive noise or make exchanges/repairs.

A lot of detail here: https://www.greenbuildingadvisor....ater-noise

Still true for a 3800sq ft house with long runs? How do you recover the high up front costs? Do you need local recirculating pumps at faucets to reduce leadtime to get hot water?

Would love to get this but my current unit is in a utility closet in the living area, and the noisy unit thread on greenbuildingadvisor scared me away.
