That is strange. But anytime 2/3rds of the last 30 reviews are 1 Star we should probably stay away.
I'll never understand how amazon can continue to label something as 4.5 stars when it's clearly not the same item that has been reviewed over the years.
I ordered this and it wouldn't fit my rogue bumper plates. I assume the cast iron plates have a larger bore hole or that tolerances aren't as tight. It felt like a cheap bar - I sent it back the next day.
Hmm I wonder what's special about this trap bar that requires the use of cast iron plate instead of regular plate. Quote: ✔ FOR USE ONLY with CAP 2 Inch Olympic cast iron plates. NOT for use with Olympic Bumper Plates.

I'm guessing the bumper plates take up too much space and this thing can't hold that many

Good catch on the recent comments. I overlooked that. I think one of the comments mentioned the bar is too large to accept Olympic bumper plates. Maybe CAP's cast iron plates are so badly made that they would actually fit...

I ordered this a few weeks back when it was on sale and it fits my Rogue Echo V2 plates just fine.
This trap bar has a design flaw with bumper plates. The bolts that attach the handle to the bar will rub against a bumper plate or really any other flat plate. The metal bolts will scrap the plates and ruin them. You can only use plates that have an offset side like the traditional CAP cast iron plates.
Look at the photos and notice the bolt heads near the 2" sleeve (part you load the plates on). A few reviewers also posted photos of their damaged bumper plates.

Guys just read the damn instructions, half of them who buy this are either amateur body builders or just new home gym enthusiasts. I own this bar, I use bumper plates, there are only 3 main issues with it
1. max weight can not exceed 200 if we use bumper plates
2. Lower bar does doesn't have a grip, which makes it harder for any shoulder exercises.
3. Rubber clips takes up a good amount of space on the bar(i understand this has to be there for preventing scratches, better design could have helped.
For what's it's worth it's cheaper than pre pandemic price.. If you are serious about improving your deadlifts and shrugs.. This is definitely a step forward than dumbbells.
I bought 2 of these. And quality control is definitely an issue. 1 of them I could not fit any of my plates and the second one for fine. It's most likely not an issue with my plates because they all fit fine on all my other bars.

Despite seeming certain that you are better than those "amateurs" and "new home gym enthusiasts", you completely missed a huge issue with this trap bar.
The bar itself is a slightly wider diameter than normal Olympic bars. My Synergee bumper plates fit fine, since they are machined a little loose. My Everyday Essentials bumper plates do NOT fit, since they have a tighter tolerance...they physically will not slide onto the trap bar because the opening is too small.
For $52 I can deal with it since I have 25s and 45s that do fit and only my 35s don't, but it's annoying. A quick glance at Amazon reviews shows many people with this issue.

Some people have plates that fit, others have issues. It's all the quality control they can afford for a $55 trap bar I guess. Of course it can always go back to Amazon.
It could also be that these cheap Everyday Essentials plates have variable collar sizes, compounding the problem.
I just got my trap bar in January so it's a recently made one too, has the rubber spacers that prevent damage to plates and your hands.

It is perfect in my use case. For weights that did not fit,
I just made a permanent connection.
Wonderful utility for comfortable squats without leg contact imo.
OP repped and thumbs up!
