Pretty bad reviews but since most mention it's being slow it's most likely due to mechanical hard drive so be prepared to install M.2 SSD to gain good speeds, while mechanical can be still used as storage (install m.2, use program to copy the old drive then erase old one for storage which should be pretty simple). As far as CD/DVD it would just add extra weight and nowadays getting used rarely IMO.
As far as no touchscreen…..complaining for its price of $300 is….
It has full HD 15.6" lcd, 11th gen Intel i3 CPU, backlit keyboard, option for M.2 drive and while 8gb is basic it's still more than most of the laptops below $400 offer (it has 4GB soldered and one sodimm available with 4GB in it so 8GB stick or maybe even 16GB can be added).
WiFi supports AX 2x2 as well as Bluetooth 5.1

Based on this review [laptopmedia.com], the RAM is upgradable and it does have a sd card reader. There is also an additional M.2 slot for ssd.

I agree with the other comments. Out of the box, this laptop will be slow and offer a poor user experience due to the mechanical hard drive. If you have the technical savvy to add a SSD drive into the M2 slot, install Windows on the SSD, then format the 1 TB mechanical drive for extra storage, then this will become a solid machine with good performance for the price. You can get a 240 GB M2 SSD for around $40 to $50.

I had 2 different M.2 drive laying around, one is SATA other one is PCI...laptop did not recognize neither of them. I had to use SSD.
After replacing that horrifying Toshiba Hybrid drive with an SSD, laptop is usable. That is if you do not need battery. Battery is drained about 2 hours of doing nothing. Some light web browsing (check mails, read news, check some deals, watch a video less then 30 minutes) and battery is dead..
So if you want to use this indoors, not on the go, and you are able to replace hdd with ssd, it is usable
If you do not have a free SSD laying around and you are planning to purchase is, I would go with below deal:

Just tested battery by streaming Forrest Gump. About 50 percent battery left. So, it must be close to that 5.5 hour range they state. Probably closer to 5 hours.

Upgraded Ram to 20gb with this stick https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089W6WV3L Probably overkill. It does take a minute or two for the laptop to recognize the new ram, so don't freak out while the computer is blacking out for that time, it should come back up.. Probably smarter move would just upgrade with an 8gb stick for 12gb total.

I do like that the keyboard lights up. But you probably should pass on this laptop if you want to do more than just basic documents, surfing internet, or watching Netflix, etc.

Quote from jstrayy :
I purchased this one instead https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...56-Screen/ [officedepot.com] at $269. Didn't turn it on at all, swapped the HDD to a 1TB Western Digital SSD, and it's not slow at all! I did run into a problem where my SSD was not recognized, and after researching for a couple hours and almost giving up I found a video that explains there's an option in BIOS which needs to be toggled. Here is the video is anyone else encounters the problem : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=41C...e=youtu.be [youtube.com]

Backlit Keyboard, Windows 11, and a nice looking machine. I've got no complaints (upon upgrading to SSD).

Thanks for the youtube link on the Intel VMD option in bios...I'm wondering if this bios option might be related to all those negative reviews about the laptop being slow. Maybe this feature being turned on is slowing down drive access. Anyways, I ordered one to play around with, supposed to get here this Saturday...

Update: Received mine today (Saturday)...plugged in and started it up, once I got to the desktop I connected to internet and let Windows activate then I launched Task Manager, the disk drive was pegged at 100% for about 2.5hrs while Windows went through it's background setup and download of update files. Reboot took about 10mins to process the updates and return to desktop, once more had some updates to apply which was relatively quick. I then proceeded to create a recovery drive which took over an hour to finish. I then took the bottom cover off and tried different drives. Tried an m.2 NVME (type with one notch), with Intel VMT enabled it was not recognized by Win11 USB install, Intel VMT disabled it was recognized but could not write to the drive. Tried an m.2 SSD drive (type with two notches), Intel VMT enabled it was not recognized, disabled it was recognized and was able to do clean install of Win11. Tried 2.5" SSD, Intel VMT enabled it was not recognized, disabled it was recognized. I then proceeded to do clean install of Win10 (yes, Win10) on the 2.5" SSD. As expected, with the SSD response was much much faster than the HDD. I checked device manager and all drivers were found and updated via Windows Update. Not sure why I could not write to the m.2 NVME but to my knowledge the drive is fine as it was working on a different laptop.

Hope this helps someone sitting on the fence on buying the laptop.

Forgot to mention that Win10 Home was auto activated once I connected to Internet so this laptop can be downgraded if you want.

I purchased, I can confirm the ssd add on makes a hell of a difference. I installed the wd black SN750 500gb nvme ssd (on sale at office Depot for $59) I'm going to add mem. Down the line, but really don't see the need to as if yet. FYI No screw came with ssd or on laptop board.

I convinced my mother this would be a good upgrade for her aging Dell Core 2 Duo laptop. I got past the "gotchas" of the Intel VMT being enabled by default (boot normally then run msconfig and enable safe mode, reboot into the BIOS and turn off VMT, boot up into safe mode, run msconfig again and turn safe mode off, reboot AGAIN), and disabled BitLocker so the drive could be cloned. Fresh install probably would've been easier than cloning, but I didn't feel like playing the driver hunting game and the only bloatware to uninstall is McAfee.

It's nice and snappy after cloning to a WD Blue 1TB NVME, but either I got a dud or I'm totally not used to cheap TN displays (I use an older ThinkPad with an IPS screen). Anyone else notice the LCD backlight flickering like crazy under load?

I tried disabling all the usual power saving/auto contrast crap I could find, but it's still flickering. I'm gonna ask her what she thinks of it tomorrow, but it's most likely going back. Not looking forward to having to restore Windows 11 back to that horribly slow spinning rust, though.
