Great laptop for the price, albeit plasticky and a bit heavier than competitors (that are generally 2x the price). I have one as my daily driver that I bought for $500 last May. Aside from the plasticky feel/creaks, the only cons I've found are the webcam's pretty weak (low light and lots of artifacting), there's sun glare/reflection, and the included charging cable/port appears to be proprietary.

That being said, the laptop can charge via USB C and can handle dual-monitor displays via a usb c hub. Iris graphics can also handle most current indie games, diablo, fortnite, etc. non-gaming battery life is ~5hrs and brightness is comparable to a Kindle Fire HD outdoors.

Anyone figure out how to get them to shutdown properly? Doing it through windows turns off the screen but the fans keep running. I have to hold the power button to get it to truly shutdown.

Sounds like you got a dud. If a BIOS update (I think latest one is from July 2021) and Windows clean install doesn't fix it, return it.

That said, I got the refurb for $329 and it's a great machine. Super snappy, screen looks nice. Would be perfect if it had a backlit keyboard and better trackpad.

You can also go into the BIOS and adjust the wattage of the GPU to bump performance.

Pretty sure that is my BIOS also. Maybe something in the BIOS settings need to be changed.

It must be configured in power options to sleep when you hit the power button. Just go to power options under settings to make the buttons do what they say. Do nothing when you close the lid is in that same general area.

Cheap feeling trackpad that's also quite loud. (Mine was loose on left side) You can feel the weight of the LCD when adjusting angles, the keyboard is ok. Colors are great on the display however I wished it was a bit brighter because of the glossy screen. I returned mine due to these issues.

What voltage and amperage do you use to charge it over usb c? I have one and am hesitant to just plug a fast phone charger in it.

20V 65W to match the specs from the original power brick. Lower wattages will work as well, though will obviously be slower.

Disable Intel Management Engine from Device Manager and see if that solves the problem.

There's a rough surface trackpad and a smooth surface trackpad on these models.

It's not. And even if it were sleeping the fans would not still be spinning.

Will doing so impact anything else?
