Monoprice just rebrands Tuya stuff for their Wifi IOT "Stitch" brand, both on the hardware and software level. This particular device is made by Shenzhen Hysiry Tech under the 2AKBP-X5 FCC ID, and is rebranded and sold as the Aoycocr X5P (and probably others).
The original version of this smart plug used an ESP8266EX SoC, and could be used with the Monoprice app, Smart Life, and probably even the Tuya app. Being a standard ESP chip, it could even be flashed with a custom firmware like ESPHome or Tasmota. Obviously once connected to an app, it could be integrated into cloud-based control from Apple/Google/Amazon.
The newer versions have moved to a Beken BK7231TQN32/Tuya WB2S SoC, so it should still work with the apps (and Tuya integration for Home Assistant and the like), but I don't think there is a way to flash Tasmota/ESPHome yet. Someone is working on a third party firmware here [elektroda.com], but I haven't purchased any devices with non ESP chips giving me a reason to try it yet.
Since nobody mentioned it yet, I haven't gotten this smart plug but my first one was round like this. They don't show many pictures of it in the wall because they don't like showing that it blocks the other outlet so you can't plus other stuff in. Pretty annoying for me personally but perhaps someone else can correct me if this is smaller than it appears.
Most of the compact smart plugs in this form factor are rated for 10A, and generally use a Chinese 10A/277VAC relay like this [githubusercontent.com]. I wouldn't hook up a fridge or 1800W space heater running on high, but lights and most general consumer electronics should be fine.

Aren't the majority of smart plugs rated for 12 or 15a instead? Wouldn't trust this with any more than simple lights.

Those are Govee - these are Stitch. They look VERY similar but I couldn't find anything conclusive on google.

10a is like a minimum 1000 watts. There's no need for FUD

Stitch is (like many many Wi-Fi IOT devices) Tuya under the hood, and should be locally controllable using Home Assistant etc.

There seems to be conflicting information on whether or not it will block the second outlet. There's one review on Monoprice that says it does. There are pictures and reviews on Amazon (for the Aoycocr rebrand I listed earlier) that indicate both. Personally, I like to stick to either the pigtail or narrow rectangular form factors.

It appears identical to the geekbes plugs I've been using for at least 4 years, which do block the second outlet. Otherwise they're great.
