Looks like the 15" version of the Target laptop that was a black Friday hit. The Target deal was 279 (edit).The big deal is the 4 core processor punching above its price range.

This is significantly more powerful than the Lenovo i3 for 300. Passmark score of nearly 10,000 and the Lenovo was 6000

The Target one had only 4GB DDR4 and 128GB SATA3. So this has better on both. Out of the box it will be faster. You needed to take the back off to add DDR for decent results on the Target one 4GB DDR4 is just not enough.

I have the Target one now with 12GB of DDR.

If this is not ips, then the screen is pretty crappy, because I have the one with the non ips screen and every time I look at the screen, I get frustrated. I don't know what to do with it. I regret ordering directly from hp because they charge restocking fee.

Interested to know if it's KB backlit too. Doesn't seem so from the product shots.

This reddit comment did mention it's not IPS, but I can't tell for sure from their spec sheet.

This model laptop has a lot of good things going for it, but they had a cut corner somewhere, and unfortunately it's the WebCam, it's the worst WebCam ever, but if you don't care about that, the rest of the laptops pretty nice
