That said, I bought my technivorm quite a long time ago, so I don't know if the build quality is the same.
In retrospect, I actually wished I had bought one of non-thermal carafe versions. I had actually thought I would have wanted the thermal carafe function, but in the end I rarely kept the coffee in the carafe long enough for it to make a difference in temperature. The design of the pouring spout on the KBT thermal carafe is not as well designed as I would liked. Because there is no clear taper, the coffee does have a higher chance of dripping. You can get around this with careful pouring, but the un-caffeinated version of me usually isn't in the mood to be careful. It's not enough of a deal breaker to make me buy a new coffee maker, but if it ever dies, I'll probably buy a glass carafe.

I have a Bonavita which makes fine brews but little things with it have annoyed the wife over the years enough to justify the upgrade.

For clarity I have two KBGT Thermal Moccamasters...not this model, but I think they share the same plastic parts

I've had it for about a month now and I really like it. It's one of the few thermal carafes that doesn't have one of those stupid lids where coffee gets stuck in the plastic spout mechanism that shuts. It keeps coffee hot for a few hours without a hot plate.
For our use, the thermal carafe is better, but if I were going for a glass one with a hot plate, this is a pretty decent deal.
