Increased in-store trade-in value for smart phones and reduced price of S22 phones

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp-...1537879921

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6494440

I have an older Galaxy Note 10, BestBuy is offering $450 for in-store trade-in. Unlocked 256 gb S22 is has reduced -100 price at $750

$750 + $50 tax - $450 (trade-in) = $350

Samsung has an elevated trade-in currently as well, but they are only offering $375 on my Note 10.

Please read https://slickdeals.net/f/15754645-bestbuy-in-store-trade-increase-galaxy-s22-256gb-unlocked-750-before-trade-in-350?p=154876258#post154876258
for details of what to ask for from the reps at bestbuy to get the deal to work.

Seems like at some bestbuys, you can trade in multiple phones YMMV

eh, google fi and then sell or trade in your phone to google fi will likely be cheaper than 350 even with their 4 months mandatory cell service which is about $90.

I've sent 50 trades, never had an issue. Just follow the instructions and take pics videos when at fedex store. If the 3rd party facility says you sent an empty box, just show order support proof ,and theyll manually approve it. Proof as in photos video and even tracking will show box weight. Don't be scared. They also can extend return window
Great points thank you!!

I'm worried about these horror stories of trade-ins being rejected once it's out of return window. Not sure if things have improved yet.
Things have gotten much better. I've traded in about 5 devices with them with no issues.

My credit card company lets me use a virtual CC number and I can put a limit on it so they can't charge anymore to it, check and see if you have that option

I can't get the full $800 for my note 20 ultra. Only $650. That sucks.
Keep the Note. Way better phone, I personally think it's a downgrade to trade it in at this point.

Samsung now has software built into the phones allowing the to fully shut down the phone if you don't pay your bill or something goes wrong with the trade in.

one plus just doesnt exist on these trade ins. the gigantic big tech corporations (the carriers colluding with manufacturers) have all but made it only 3 very expensive phones can exist in america, pixel iphone and samsung. And maybe throw a bone to some really crappy motos on the low end (where you can get amazing phones for 200-300 everywhere else in the world) utterly pathetic and criminal.
It's not the "big tech corporations" or collusion with carriers etc. It's that the 3 phone models you named (high end Samsung Galaxy, iPhone and Google Pixel) are the only phones that maintain a high enough resell value to justify trade in prices like this. And the reason resale prices are high, in large part, are because they are phones that are well supported for long periods of time.

If one plus wants to join the party, they need to build a track record of long term reliability and software support for their products. Unfortunately, they (and many other companies) have done the math and figured out that iy isn't in their favor to provide expensive long term support. Apple does it because they get a lot of lifetime revenue from app store sales and services. Google does it for similar reasons, and Samsung basically has to keep up with the other two while also encouraging further investment in their own smaller ecosystem of products and services, something most other phone makers don't benefit from at all.

Second hand and long lived phones HURT hardware profits, but benefit the ecosystems that those products rely on, so only ecosystem-affiliated companies are going to support this kind of robust resale model. If you were buying all your apps on the oneplus app store and streaming from oneplus radio while seeing ads from the oneplus ad network etc, then things would be different.

I got an email from BestBuy saying if I trade in my items I can get a whole $750. then it listed the items that would get me that much and it was like 2 ps5s, a rtx 3070, a rtx 3080, an apple watch, and I think even more. lmao. On ebay those items would get almost $4,000.

Complain via chat on Samsung. They will manually accept the trade in.
First time in 5 years, my trade ins were not showing up. My tab s7 and note 10 plus both I did chat on 6th day after delivery to samsung tradein center and they accepted the trade in on chat.

This is why I traded in at samsung.com instead. They are giving $950 for Note 20 Ultra 128gb.

Got the s22 ultra 256gb for $249+tax and s22 ultra 512gb for $100 more. I also paid with paypal which I get 6% back and I did the cancellation trick. Got refunded 5% on 512gb and 10% on the 256gb and minus like $12 for first responders discount Smilie
