Only true for the resellers/scalpers. They don't see any profit from this anymore so of course the "demand" isn't there for them.

The demand from us regular folk, the demand is still there.

You'd think that from a "pro" like you, you'd understand.

$500 is the point that the tax hit really hurts. I mean, I can spend $300 on the S and give uncle same a $24 handout but I hate giving away $40 to the government for something that is pretty close to the same thing.

Console is only readily available, because there are absolutely no games worth playing on it. I honestly don't know why M$ released a console without any actual good single player exclusives. Those are what sell consoles, not the copy and paste games released every year.

I think the purpose of this gen is to fix some issues last gen and the gen before had, like wobbly 30fps and long load times. To me, this gen is literally PS4 Pro Plus and Xbox One XX... to play the same games with better performance. It's not really a full new gen like in the past from PS1 to PS2 for example, so not many dedicated software isn't all the surprising. Even for Sony who usually has more 1st party exclusive games only has 3 PS5 only games that I can think of in 1.5 years, not counting the included Astro Bot game which was great btw. And of those 3, I believe 2 of them (Demon Souls and Returnal) can actually be achieved on the PS4 Pro if they chose to reduce resolution, effects, and frame rates. I think Ratchet and Clank is the only one that's actually not doable on last gen hardware even with reduced visuals and performance because of the need for fast asset streaming.

MS Reward points if that's what you are referring to can be redeemed for MS gift cards and apply to anything in their store, including these consoles.

This is precisely why I'm not in a rush. There is no real compelling reason to upgrade yet to me...yet. The majority of the best games I've ever played don't have bleeding edge graphics or require massive processing power. My days are not so hectic that I happen to have a few precious seconds in my life to spare while a game loads. Sadly, we get maybe 2-3 "must play" games per year these days. Looking back at the boatload of amazing titles for PS2 is heartbreaking by comparison. Yeah, whatever, I'm old.

Even though it released 18 months ago, this console is still selling out within minutes/hours of being available for retail price. You're probably another 18 months out from seeing these drop below $500

I have 8,000 unused MS Xbox live points card from the 360 era that I'd forgot about since switching to PS4 and now PS5. I guess they're no longer good I can't figure out how to redeem them.
