This price drop is probably in response to no longer including the mobile charging connector on new vehicle orders (after April 17th).

At least they aren't using the inflation excuse to raise the price on this product like everything else nowadays.

Add on the fact that you don't need to worry about a j1772 adapter (which gets physically unlocked from the car when you unlock the charge cable so you have to grab and yank it manually every single time)

Juice box has Wi-Fi scheduling, I dont see that on the Tesla. Also if you need the j1772 it's another $50. Tesla has a slightly higher charge rate per $ if you can swing the 60 amp breaker for it.

It's meant for direct hardwire only. If I recall it is possible to wire in a 240v Nema 14 or 6 but you buy it from your fav big box store and wire to the terminals. You can go to Tesla site and download the manual. Also unfortunately you go this way you will need a 2 pole GFI breaker to meet code whereas if its direct wire you do not because the wall connector has fault protection circuitry in it. Please call your town, mine also requires a metal splash cover if it is in the garage or outside. Now the new gen injects current into ground and it would trip your 2pole GFI so technically you would have to violate code and use a regular 2 pole breaker. So there is no legal way to connect via a plug so be warned this is meant for direct wire. The TMC is meant for a plug solution.

If you do this, you can NOT take full advantage of the charging capacities of the Wall Connector. The Wall Connector is capable of delivering 48A but requires all wiring to be rated at 60A (breaker, wiring), per electrical code. If you pig tail your Wall Connector to a NEMA 14-50P, that outlet type is only rated up to 50A (hence the name). You can still charge at 40A (80% of 50A) which is still very good but not the full capability of the Wall Connector.

Would buy this if.they have delivered my Model Y by now. Been over 8 months since I placed my order. Estimated delivered will.be around the.1 yr mark.

Charger is a great price. I already have a 30 Amp j1772 already but might upgrade when my Tesla actually arrives.
