Last time I speak the truth about 11800h is superior in gaming performance than 5800h, get a downvote hell. Some people just because Ryzen 3 on killing spree of Intel's desktop 11 gen then conclude 5800h should destroy 11800h, the fact is not checked:
Just for pure gaming, CPU cache make a lot difference. That's why AMD released 5800x3d with 96 MB L3 give 12900k(30 MB) a home run for the price.
Intel Desktop CPU 11 gen are garbage due to poor reuse of 14nm node and only gives 16 MB L3 while Ryzen 5800x have 32 MB L3.
Due to historical and technology reasons, Ryzen always need more cache to evenly match Intel's gaming performance, it's a fact.
However Intel mobile 11 gen is 10nm and 11800h(24 MB) is a lot better for it have more L3 cache than 5800h(16MB), it's also a fact.
So Ryzen 3 did a great job on desktop doesn't immediately transfer to the mobile world. Acknowledge 11800h is vastly superior in single core performance than 5800h or 6800h is the same as we know 11800h power efficiency is quite poor compares to 5800h.
So please don't assume 5800/5900 even 6800/6900 are the same level of gaming performance as gen 11 or gen 12, they're not. period.
Ryzen 3 mobile chip strike a great performance balance between battery efficiency and gaming performance. Yet the absolute single core still lingers around Intel 10th gen. If the game you play rely heavily on single core or low 1% fps. Intel gen 11/12 is a great boost, otherwise Ryzen is a balanced choice.
Again, pure gaming performance:
Desktop: gen 10 = gen 11 = zen 2 < zen 3 < gen 12
Mobile: zen 2 < gen 10 = zen 3 <= zen 3+ < gen 11 < gen 12
I have this with 32 gb ram (other specs the same except windows 10) and it is a beast. Has given me 0 issues--in stark contrast to my XPS 13. I really only play apex sparingly. So no idea if it can run Crysis.
Wrong, this guy is right. I have had the 5900HX and the 11800h. I replaced RAM in both. The 11800h on timespy I could get almost 11000, with a 5900HX, I could barely crack 10000. Some games that favor AMD do better but the majority gave a 5 to 7% advantage to the 11800h. As far as efficiency, your right. The 5900HX will last up to 6 hours on a full battery while the 11800h seems to always die at the 4 hour mark.
Everyone one is a freaking expert on here and yet you have never owned both I presume. Anyone can watch Jarrod's Tech but some people test it for themselves. Based on the 2 models I had (and the G15 Advantage Edition that performed identically with its 5900HX on benchmarks with 1Rx8 RAM), I can say, the 11800h is better for gaming. It isn't that much better, but you pick what you want.
Better battery life and a slight loss in performance or better gaming, thunderbolt, pci gen 4, with worse battery performance.

very curious to hear what you guys think about this.
I was searching for a laptop for 3 months, this is the best laptop i was able to find based on the youtube reviews, and for the price, its a great oportunity. My laptop will arrive tomorrow.
Great deal on a great laptop. Unfortunately I don't travel enough and wife would kill me for getting this instead of a more powerful and cheaper desktop
I have this laptop. I got it from Microcenter refurbished (it was brand new for sure) for $1690.97 with 32 gbs of RAM. I bought a warranty for $120 through a 3rd party. It's a beast. This price is okay. Not the best I have seen but pretty close.
Edit: Also, mine was the 7i version. had a 11800h not the R9 5900

I did too, I love mine as well. What 3rd party did you use for the Warranty?

Definitely recommend the 11800h over this 5900hx. Had 2 identical laptops with these chips and the intel got on average 20-30 frames higher in cpu intensive games. Ended up returning the Ryzen
I have this. I upgraded the ram to 64gb and added a 2tb samsung 970 nvme ssd. It's pretty awesome overall. I am a power user running pix4d. So im runny heavy loads on the system.
Just be careful when removing the bottom plate when upgrading.

Nah. The 5900hx is just as powerful as the 11800h, while being much more efficient.

The 12700h though...
I had 2 identical laptops running the same games with the same specs besides the cpu. 5900hx was definitely more battery efficient but the 11800h definitely outperformed it across the board

edit - I paid 2400 in August 2021. no regrets.

How it compares vs this deal?

How much performance difference are we talking? Is it worth the extra $300?
