Is wireless not the better way to go for outdoor? Those wireless ones are getting pretty responsive.
There are certain key differences between wireless and wired cameras due to nature of technology.
  1. Length of footage - A battery powered camera is not always on to conserve power. Most use PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor to detect motion. Once the sensor detects motion, Camera turns on and starts recording. No matter how good is the speed of camera being turned on, it is not zero, a wired camera starts recording as soon as it detects motion so in most of the cases a wired camera will capture more.
  2. Preroll - Since they are always on, most of the wired cameras keep a rolling buffer of live footage in memory(3-6 seconds). Once they detects motion, they can add this footage to the clip. This gives you clip with footage of what happened a few seconds even before camera detected motion. This combined with above makes a massive difference in experience specially for doorbells where you only get back of delivery guy in most cases with a battery powered camera,
  3. 2X7 Recording - Most of the battery powered cameras will not give you an option to record 24X7 even when connected to a power source. There are few exceptions like google with their Gen 2 outdoor camera but most don't
  4. Notification speed - This varies greatly between brands as it depends on a lot of factors like onboard hardware, scale and speed of cloud services, quality of object detection etc but in principle, a wired camera from the same brand will give faster notification then a battery powered camera
My recommendation would be to always go for a wired camera unless power wiring is not at all possible.
Hope this helps.

not compatible with eufy HomeBase. The USB adapter is not waterproof, a cover is required for outdoor use.

does anybody have this? what is the cable for? is it just power cable?
how fast does it start recording after detecting motion?
I have 2k eufy doorbell, and i only see backs of delivery guys, plus false alarms all the time.
Is this camera better? Or is the point to just have it on 24/7 ?
Thanks.
I've (and many others) have been using eufy indoor cams (because they are the only ones that support HKSV) outside for years without issue. I think it will be fine.

The specs say it has 24/7 recording. Is the 24/7 footage available on the app, the SD card, or both?

The 24/7 records on the SD card, you use the app to playback the recording remotely that's stored on your SD card.

Often. "Failed to Request" and stuck on "Preparing to Play..." are other Eufy greatest hits.

Their web portal is Eufy's red-headed stepchild, unfortunately. Unreliable live view, inability to view local recordings, no camera controls... it's a disappointing aspect of an otherwise decent product.

Thank you for confirming! I thought it was my local network / settings.

Seem like Eufy cams transmitting live stream to Amazon cloud, then to servers in China, and to web browsers. This issue happens more often during the day, when there's a lot more traffic.

The other major pain with mysecurity.eufylife.com is the 5-minute live view limit, and only one camera can live-stream at a time. Google Nest web can live-stream all their cameras at the same time.

For clarification I reviewed the specs. This camera has wireless, ie WiFi, connection to your network while being powered with a wire.

Hope this clarifies as I had the same question.

i have both Nest and Eufy cameras, both brands have issues.

The biggest issue with Eufy is their mysecurity.eufylife.com is crap, constantly getting timeout error when accessing live view. Their cameras also sending a lot of false notifications (AI human detection)

i have Eufycam 2 pro (battery), the biggest issue is there's a 2-3 seconds delay between motion detection and recording. This is a big deal because most of the times, the recordings show only their back (instead of their faces)

Do these stream through Apple Home like the other Eufy. I dont care if it is wired for power but is it accessible via wifi from a smartphone?
