Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

Lol, some of us pay less than $15 per line for Magenta Max. So for me, everything you said above is garbage. I grab these "free with any trade" phones just to have as backup or to use as wifi devices around the house. Since I'm on MMax, and not an MVNO, I also grab free with trade flagship phones as well. Since I feel I have a good deal on my plan, I never go griping about bill credits or being locked down for 24 months. . .as it doesn't matter to me
I agree. I have 6 phones and Netflix for $127/month, unlimited. That seems reasonable to me.

Step 5) Congratulate yourself on owning a five-year-old phone that's not 5G?

OH NO NOT MY HECKIN 5G!!!

What do you even use 5G for that LTE is insufficient for? I had no noticeable difference between LTE and 5G when I used a 5G phone. Are you too poor to have actual internet at your house?

DAMN! YOU'VE CAUGHT ME!

Except)
1) 5G isn't noticeably faster than 4G LTE
2) Why do you need a warranty on a $50 phone? You're the type that pays $70 a month for phone insurance and leasing your phone, aren't you?

Do you really want to compare the specific benefits of the One Plus? It's called security updates. The V30 doesn't get them anymore. Which makes you more susceptible to phishing scams and viruses. I just mentioned a basic difference. You aren't proposing a better or equal tradeoff. It's not close.

Am I doing something wrong? I click trade-in and enter a 10+ years old cell phone. Of course, it said the trade-in value is $0 but happy to recycle for me. Then it shows the monthly payment is $9 (the price divided by 24). Where is the credit for trading in any undamaged phone?

Apparently, this thread is about upset people that don't have actual T-Mobile accounts and don't qualify for an offer, so they suggest a whackass alternative shoestring budget model. Look at the reviews for the One Plus.

I sent in my old phone. After about 10 days, I received a text from Tmo "Goog New - the trade-in for line xxx-xxx-xxxx is completed. You'll receive a monthly bill credit...." ,
