Had this for two CT winters now. It does an admirable job with even deep snow as long as it's not heavy and wet. Once it gets really wet, it slogs down and doesn't throw the snow at all. It's about as good as you can get in an electric right now though, so I'm quite happy with it.

Good deal but I wish it was the one with the auger. This one is the older version.

If I don't have any EGO batteries or chargers, do you think it still makes sense to buy it piecemeal? I think the whole set with 2x 5.0ah batteries is $649.99 right now on Amazon.

Yes, only one battery is required. You can run it on the 2.5ah but it'll just have a short run time

I wouldn't buy it for $650 with two batteries. There are deals that pop up here and there for tools that include batteries and chargers. I already have their lawn mower, weed watcher, leaf blower, edger, and chainsaw so I have a collection of batteries already.

I have one. worked well for the last new england winter. I am usually able to clear my entire driveway with just two 5 AH batteries.

No it's a better deal to buy it as a package if don't already have batteries. But if you have other tools than this is a good deal to add to collection.

Realistically, your best bet is to purchase a kit that includes the blower, two batteries (and probably one with the two 7.5 batteries), and a charger. The batteries on their own are very expensive, and the charger isn't cheap, either.

I bought the SNT2112 from Lowes in December which comes with 2 5.0 Ah batteries. Since I already had one battery from my lawnmower, I sold the 2nd battery on ebay and after all the fees made $120.
