I just did it and have not received an Amex notification... though with these types of deals I typically do not. Can't say 100% sure if it works, I'll update if I see a credit.
I can't tell if the deal counts the service charge or just specifically ordering multiple phones... which I did a week ago before this offer

When trade-in, we have 2 options:
1) Credit card refund - If you buy a new phone and pay in full today
2) Fi credit - If you finance a phone or order a Google Fi SIM
When selecting option 1, we make a sum payment, so just get one $25 from AmEx, and trade-in value back to credit card.
When selecting 2 to split phone payment, we may get three $25 but what we get from trade-in is Fi credit which may be over the 4-month service charge. What could we do with the credit in Fi?

Has anyone here tried to finance the phone and then pre-pay $50 at a time times 3 and have it apply towards the phone balance? I have this offer on mine and my wife's account. May pick up a 256GB S22 if there is a way to use both $75 offers during the 4 month period (assuming $20 referral).

As long as you don't use the fi sim on any other phone, you should be fine.
Did you buy the phone with your Amex? If so, did it trigger the offer? Someone on another thread reported that the entire $75 amount triggered with a $300 phone purchase.
Another option would be to finance the device and then prepay $50 at a time towards it, but I have yet to see any data points on that.
