I bought this a couple years ago. No complaints for what it is, but I got annoyed with using an extension cord. My electric company offered a $50 rebate on a battery mower and am happy with the switch. I would go for a battery mower unless you want to buy twice, cry twice like me. There's probably a good chance you can find a used corded mower in your area from someone like me to try out.

having owned this, i have to recommend against it

you will *hate* the extension cord while you mow

you will hate it with the passion of a thousand suns

you will decide to buy a battery powered one to replace this miserable little jerk

I bought this for $128 at the beginning of April and finally was able to use it recently. Using a corded mower is an experience, but the mower did a wonderful job on the lawn. I would only recommend this if your lawn is small. Mine's a quarter acre and it took a little getting used to what direction to mow that lays the cord out just right. Did it take longer than a non-corded mower yeah - so far is it worth not spending 4x times the price - we'll see.

Similar input as the others, recommend for a small yard with few/no obstacles (eg trees, bushes etc) and/or only need to mow every other week. I have one tree and non-squared off flower beds that makes it a bit awkward for me, but it's doable since I only need to mow every 2-3 weeks. And it's <1/4 acre. If I had to do it every week then I might think twice.

I've had mine for almost 6 years and it still runs like a champ, no issues there. The cord takes getting used to, but you do get used to it and can get into a 'rhythm' of sorts of managing the cord once you get going. For me it's been good enough and I'm too cheap to pay the extra money for a battery operated one. Love it over a gas operated mower - will never go back to one. Do be sure to get the proper size extension cords if you get one.

As many others are stating, do yourself a favor and get the battery model. If you are looking at either of these, you must have a small yard. While you think managing with a cord is doable...it isn't. It sucks.

The 17" battery mower goes on sale many times for $150-200. Cheap mower that gets the job done if you have a small yard. I'm satisfied with the one I got the other month. I just hope the batteries dont get shot quickly.

I think this is a good deal due to the steel deck and powerful engine. Batteries have a limited lifespan and pollute in its creation and disposal. This will outlast a battery-powered mower and doesn't run out of power. The cord will be annoying, though.
