Yeah, that's not right. It's like someone asking if they should get a mid size vehicle or a compact and you reply "Buy a motherfarking Mitsubishi Mirage because they are the cheapest car you can buy in America who gives a damn about size". Slickdeals is about finding a good deal on good products. Nobody wants to buys crappy shit "cause its cheap"

Glad I waited on the factory reconditioned deal!

Edit: I do see that the reconditioned units posted yesterday went down to $170 when it went to 40% off. I'm majorly envious of anyone who got in on that!

I've had mine for about a year and can say there's nothing really special about it. If you're lucky, it will come properly adjusted. I wasn't lucky.

Mine was about 1/8" off on one side. There's some adjustment you can do that may or may not help. It's a pain in the ass to do, but mine is better after adjustment, but still off. I haven't had the time to take it to a service center.

The other issue I had was the infeed/outfeed tables weren't aligned either. Not hard to adjust, but wanted to mention they're flimsy so they flex anyways. You get 2" of snipe on each end of your boards, but I think that's a fairly common problem for all benchtop planers. This Ridgid may snipe slightly worse though due to the flimsy tables.

I think a Wen with the granite tables would have been a better purchase. I went with the Ridgid because it was a good deal on DTO.

If price is not an issue, this or the Wen with the spiral blade?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/WEN-1.../315070716

Edit: Sorry guys, I should have said, "which is better, this or the Wen with the spiral blade.?
To which someone might say, "This is Slickdeals. This is cheaper. So the answer is clearly this one."

If price isn't an issue, you'd get the DeWalt 735x

Ugh 170 for blem would've been nice. I jumped on the brief HD new deal last year for $200 but blem is same as new as far as I'm concerned.

If price isn't an issue then you're not the target audience for Slickdeals. Go find a comparison video of planers on YouTube and pay full retail.
Sorry that I wasn't clear enough to say something like, "I know this one is cheaper, but are the spiral blade planers worth the added cost?"

The reconditioned units only have a 1 year warranty and no Lifetime Service Agreement so you did great in my opinion!

Thanks for the find! Been eyeing this or the Dewalt 13" for some time now, waiting for a good deal. Site is slow, but it works!

Wish I would have gotten the full-size rigid jointer for $400 this morning. Makes this seem like less of a good deal in comparison. However... do I really need this? Oh slickdeals....
