Apologies in advance, not intending to TC, but wanted to add my experience here.

This drive is perfectly fine if you're just looking for something cheap to put into a system that doesn't store anything critical. But, as a technology consultant and a professional data recovery technician personally, I have seen at least a dozen of these completely fail after a couple of years of use, and they are unrecoverable when they do because there's no firmware support for them from data recovery hardware such as pc-3000. The nature of the failure is their reported drive model reverts to simply "SATAFIRM" and thereafter all sectors contain no data.

Just wanted to make sure anyone who might be a prospective purchaser was aware of this!

Good price if you need an SSD now. This is the price for 120GB. The 240GB is usually at least like $28-30.

Not the fastest drive, but I have several of them and they work okay. Haven't had a failure yet I don't think.

Definitely a great drive/price for a htpc or rpi/appliance use where you can swap with a clone on failure.

Nice deal, limit of 5 at that price, bought 5 to have some spares when doing reloads of laptops or desktops for my friends. Personally have used over 50 of these, so far only 1 has been bricked.

Thanks op!

I've had bad experiences with PNY as well, (USB 3 flash drives in particular) so I'm also wary of this deal. However, the price is just too good to pass up and I decided to get 2. The 3 year warranty seems pretty decent as well…

My plan is to use these drives for downloading via Sabnzbd [sabnzbd.org]; one for incomplete/cache and the other for finished via an attached Wavlink X-MAN [newegg.com] device to my PC. The docking station's drive bays are going to waste/never used currently so this deal seems like serendipitous way to finally utilize the X-MAN. (Cyclops and Wolverine would be proud laugh out loud )

In theory, Sabnzbd download speeds, repairs plus unpacking should be faster and I will save my physical drives wear and tear as well. What worries me though is that SSDs have limited write cycles so perhaps employing them for download drives is a terrible idea?

But I've heard SSD technology has improved considerably ergo constant writes is not that much of an issue any more. With the low price and 3 year warranty I'm thinking my Sabnzbd scheme is a decent idea; time will tell though. Long story short, Thanks for posting the deal OP and I'm in for 2.

Just a heads up. I signed up for emails and get a 10% off coupon, but that coupon won't work for buying 1 of these ssds.

My Chase CC is also offering 5% CB on Dell until $100 limit is reached.
Edit: When added to cart shows price as $31.99 instead for me.

Thanks for the info. So you're saying this specific model not ALL PNY correct?
