I have a sneaky suspicion when these 3d titles are no longer peoduced they will become very valuable because a nice 3d projector is a great experience in home theatre setups.. love it in my 120" screen! loading up more for my collection! thanks

Thanks, bought a few! You can also get 3D (used) from Amazon.uk for $10 or less each, even after shipping.

These prices are great compared to what I paid many years ago, and 3Ds were the only format I was willing to pay up to $25 for certain movies in part because I was always afraid they would go OOP. Apparently they produced a lot more of certain 3D movies than I realized.

Most of these 3Ds sold for $25-$35 soon after they were released. Many went to $15-$25 in the first year (I think $18 each was a common price I paid). They could've priced these the same as regular Blurays so they were available in the $10-$20 range within a year, but they were greedy and wanted an extra $10-$20 for 3D. Then studios blamed the demise of 3D on people not being interested in 3D when I think it was due to the extra high cost. Now they have to dump loads of these cheap 3Ds when if they had just sold 3D at more reasonable prices to start with, not only would they have been stuck with less to clearance but enough people might have adopted 3D that it wouldn't have died.

If you have a good product but charge a lot more than a comparable product, people shouldn't be surprised when most consumers decide it's not worth paying a lot extra for the premium (3D) product.

Wonder Woman 1984 is an interesting example. It's one of the few 3D movies that dropped super fast in price and I managed to get it for around $12, but now it's down to $9.49. I assume Warner made too many copies of it which is a surprise since I thought almost every studio made tiny MOD batches in lots of 3000 and don't produce more until those sell out, so you would think there would never be more than 3000 copies to clearance and that Warner would not make any more copies if they only sell for $9.49.

From 3rd party sellers or Amazon warehouse? Before COVID when Amazon UK and Germany used to charge reasonable shipping rates, I looked for used 3D Blurays and rarely could find any 3rd party sellers that would ship to the US or they wanted a lot more for shipping than Amazon charged. I never managed to get Hobbs & Shaw 3D or Gemini Man 3D, but at this point I've realized 3D is mostly dead and even new movies released to theaters in 3D (such as the Marvel movies) will probably never see a 3D release anywhere in the world (and if they did they would be $60+ like some of those Japanese 3D releases). My days of paying a fortune for 3D are over, so 2D has to suffice.

Do you have any links/examples of such UK 3D for under $10 shipped to the US?

I blame Samsung for ruin my initial 3D experience with their active 3D glasses. Not until I saw a LG passive 3D TV.

Most of these are Spanish language edition so is there a way to change it?
The boxes are in Spanish. The movies still have the English tracks.

I've kept my PS3 in pristine shape for a deal like this. People are going to need a 3D player.
Doesn't the PS4 and PS5 play 3D Blu-Rays? Or do you need to hook it up to PSVR?

I believe all home projectors use active glasses (unless you use a two projector method for left/right eyes). I have a BenQ 1080p projector with generic active glasses from Amazon and it is great. I have a 120" AT screen for reference.

My point just that it isn't specific to the active glasses but maybe the TV implementation.

I think I already have all the 3D discs worth getting. Most of these are just junk films. Sad, i do enjoy them on my projector. The original Top Gun makes for a nice 3D upgrade. Wish they'd do the new one in 3D

One of the biggest problems with 3D blurays is that the content is wildly inconsistent. Some discs like Jaws 3 and Comin At Ya are literally broken. It's a distorted mess and unwatchable. Many of the superhero movies just have a few token 3D scenes but dont really change the viewing experience much. Then there are gems like Alita and A Turtle's Tale that will simply amaze your friends and family. In general animations have the best 3D effects. It's hard to go wrong with a $5 3D movie, but most of these listed here are pretty weak in the 3D department. So don't expect to be blown away by most of them.

Thank you. Helping to complete the collection. I still don't understand why 3D failed at home when they still project them in theaters.
3d failed because:
Most people wouldn't use it enough to justify the (admittedly small) extra cost. Then there's the extra cost of the 3d bluray vs the regular bluray version.
There was also the problem of not having a standard for 3d glasses. People were getting confused about what kind of glasses they needed, and then if they needed active glasses there was the issue of having a working battery when you wanted to watch something.
To make matters worse, directors and studios didn't understand 3d well enough to consistently deliver a high enough quality to keep 3d a legitimate endeavor. Too many movies were shot for 2d with no thought of 3d taken into consideration, and then those movies were given crappy conversions. That just helped instill the idea that a movie needed to be shot in *native* 3d to be any good, but then a lot of native 3d movies ended up sucking because they weren't filmed to take advantage of 3d. It all worked against the 3d format as too many movies just weren't good in 3d.
Then you have the added problem that bluray was limited to 1080p, and using 3d glasses either reduces perceived frame rate (active) or reduced resolution (passive), so people were getting a viewing experience somewhere in between DVD and 1080p bluray.

I believe that 3d will be given a 2nd chance with 8k TV. It would allow both eyes to get full 4k+ resolution, and with the added HDR it would improve the overall 3d effect, as the 3d effect is created by slight differences between what each eye sees. A 3d 8k tv w/ HDR would look phenomenal, and I believe we are going to get it with the help of James Cameron and the avatar sequels.
The avatar sequels were delayed and stretched out to allow for technology to catch up with what Cameron is trying to do. The original Avatar hasn't been released on 4k yet because Cameron was going back and improving the image quality so it could be re-released in theaters and *then* released in 4k. I believe something similar would be done to bring 3d to 8k TVs, and the entire avatar franchise on 8k 3d bluray would be what sells people on giving 3d another chance.

A 3D bluray will only display in 3D so you'll need a 3D TV, player, and glasses. Most releases came with a separate bluray non-3D disc. But you have to be careful because there have been a couple of releases in the past that only came with the 3D disc. So just read the description to make sure.
Some 3D movies do come with an in-menu optioni to select 2D or 3D playback. All should though.

I also thought I would get a 3D TV at some point and then they stopped making them. My husband got us a short throw projector (which plays 3D) and we love it. You might try a projector. Smilie Ours has a framed fixed screen, which I also really like.
