It really is. Used to buy $50-80 routers for years, and while they worked for years, they dropped wifi 4-10x a month. The range on this is incredible, and one drop since I got it Jan 2021

Same here, used to buy the cheapies, always thought routers all do the same thing. Cheap routers use to drop daily, couldn't even get coverage in my bedroom. With this beast, I don't think it's dropped once since I got it. Also full coverage in my bedroom. Love it... In the router world, you really get what you pay for.

Nothing wrong with my Asus ac68u which I got for that price.

Asus routers, generally speaking are the best on the market, ESPECIALLY when you install merlin. The AX86U even though it's been out for about 2 years is still considered the best wifi 6 router.

Best buy has it for the same price. If you have an old router to trade in for a 15% off, price is better than the previous deal@microcenter for $230
Has anyone been able to replicate this? Best Buy staff seems to have alot of turnover they are quick to say "Doesn't Exist" "I've Never heard of that" "I don't think we can honor that".....etc.
Seems like it is easier to say "NO" than to actually try to help.

They say that when they do a price match. But If it's just the price they are selling and not a price match of other competitors, I don't see why not the 15% coupon won't apply.

The only real downside is that the 36-48 UNII-1 channel block runs at a lower power relative to the higher end designs optimized for 1w output, but with that said, it depends on the amplifier and antenna setup too. Still a good value when comparing to alternative ASUS options @ MSRP.
Anyway $250 was the original launch price. Was bumped higher, but they're coming back down. Certain brands are selling competitive hardware for half the cost. (firmware/sw aside)

Same here. My refurbished AC68u costs only $30ish though, lol. I use two units to set up a mesh, working great.
I also used Asus RT-AC3200, a $200ish router years ago, I don't really feel the difference between it and the cheap ac68u
