Similar boat, and a lot of the wide widths offered will fit and slip. Very frustrating. Do you have any preferred brands/models?

Flat feet can be fixed easier with good insoles. I recommend the plastic ones that are preshaped instead of Dr Scholl's. Wide feet on the other hand... Gotta get wide shoes, cause getting a size bigger messes up other parts of your feet (see: calluses and bunions)

I don't have good news for you. just my trial and error testing.
I think the best recommendation is to go to an actual store and have someone measure your feet in the late afternoon. A few different stores, since sometimes people mess up or there may be variations with measurements due to human error.

I've tried both powerstep and superfeet. powerstep, i actually purchased twice, and in two different sizes.
since walking and feet vary per person, there is no one size fits all.
I currently have three pairs of NEW shoes that I don't wear b/c of sizing issues... didn't return in time

I purchased two shoes, exact same size, but due to life situations, two different powerstep insoles.
b/c of wide feet, shoe size is +1 bigger than normal. I had to change how the shoe was laced (essentially skipping the first "notch" or "pair" of holes) since I realized I was squeezing the front edges of my toes.
While I still have issues with the shoes, one is slightly better (10-10.5 vs 11-11.5 mens powerstep) - too lazy to take the insole out lol

My next pair of shoes is probably going to be a SAS Shoe. I stopped by a store and their xx-wide fit me... mostly. Supposedly they say the leather will loosen up over time...
At this point in time, after spending hundreds of dollars on shoes and misc accessories, I think if you have really wide feet - there just aren't sales for you. Gotta pay the full price unless you like spending lots of time bargain hunting in actual stores! (Literally why I am considering those expensive $200 SAS shoes!)

EDIT: please note - all of my shoe issues are due to having jobs that are 80-95% on your feet all day. If you sit in an office and only need the shoes to and from car and meeting rooms, it doesn't matter as much. I know this for a fact b/c one of the shoes I wore didn't pass the "full day test" once I got a job on my feet. For an office? Sure. Less than 1 hour walking per day! The more you walk, the more it matters. Runner shoes are better, but for jobs - the top is too thin and you can crush your feet or have things dropped on it and that's not good. Calluses and bunions happen due to improper fitting shoes. idk , i'm rambling now, good luck

Whoah, I appreciate the rambling. I'm on my feet a lot too, and like to hike and things like that, so that's where running shoes have saved the day. But yeah, for work I've been through a lot of what you describe, but you've made much more of an effort than I have, lol. I'd be out shoveling snow in my poorly lined running shoes just because I gave up on finding boots that don't crush me. I'm usually 10.5 - 11 too.

Anyhow, I will saved your post in my notes and follow up on some of your advice. Thank you -- much appreciated.
