I have this grill, awesome. I strongly recommend before you put it together wash the entire thing down with soap and water then paint it using high-heat Rust-Oleum or equivalent. After having one that rusted within the first few months I tried this and the one I have now is going into it's 7th summer and looks brand new. Good luck.
Charcoal taste better but if it is 7pm on a week night and I want a quick burger/steak. I could be done cooking by the time to coals are ready. I also use the gas side indirect heay and a warmer if I'm cooking volume..
Different cooking styles , different cooking temperatures. Having a bag of charcoal stored isn't a big deal and a propane tank available as you normally would doesn't seem to be much of a fuss at all

Ive got the older, larger version of this with side-burner. Still going strong after almost 5 years. Love having the option for either, tho I do mostly use propane.

My biggest tip: Get a cover! They do sell custom ones (that fit over the chimney stacks), which I bought, but even a big enough tarp securely fastened will do. Mine has very, very little rust after five years even though it sits outside 100% of the time in rainy Seattle weather with only its cover (it's not even under a roof).

Great mix of capabilities, can even add a side box (~$80) and use charcoal side as a smoker.. Good sturdy grill and easy to assemble, BUT this thing rusts out quickly. I've bought this twice. Admittedly, I didn't clean and cover the first one regularly… it lasted 2-1/2 years. Next one got treated properly and still rusted out in 4 years. The cost of the parts to rebuild is ridiculous!!! Grates just disintegrates and nobody likes chunks of rust in their burgers or steak!
Other extended family and friends rave about their 10+ years with Weber Genesis and others grills with high purchase prices.
If you can afford them, then buy the quality. If you're OK catching sale deals like this and replacing every 2-3 years, then these are fun and versatile. Good luck.

Genuinely curious, why would one want to have both a charcoal and gas grill? Seems like a nuisance to have to have charcoal and propane on hands instead of just one fuel source.
Gas in the winter, charcoal in the summer.

Thanks for this tip! Do you have more details on the paint, is it a spray paint or brush on? Also do you paint the inside and/or outside?

I've had this for 5 years now. It's served it's purpose, but as my family grows I'm going to need an upgrade. Biggest downside (especially the charcoal side) is how small it is. Tough to cook off with indirect heat with this size. Other than that it's been reliable with no rusting.

I have the chargriller 3-burner gas grill and it is awesome. It heats up to 700 + degrees within 10 minutes of turning it on.

It's a spray. Lowe's or HD has it, also high heat for car engines. I did everything except the burners and the back plate that the gas controls and ignitor is on.
Living in Florida covers are only good for a single year and they shred from sun exposure. Mine is outside in the weather year round.
The only other thing I do is have two old cans I use to cover the chimneys on the gas grill to keep rain and critters out.

Just curious, I have a gas connection in my patio, can I buy this or any gas grill?

You could always sous vide the steak and sear it when you get home. Quicker than waiting for the gas grill to heat up the grate and grill. And it will be more tender than grilling. I just did it tonight but with pork chops. I seared them then bagged them and sous vide the pork. When we got home I took it out. Cut them up and served it with rice(which I cooked a few hours earlier) if I had one of those smart $150 rice cookers it would have kept it warmer then it was today. But sous viding is great for those late dinner days. You can even start early in the morning and keep it going all day without the risk of overcooking.
As for me I almost got a gas grill for the quick cooks but then realized it tastes better with lump charcoal. The only reason why I sous vide the pork today was because I ran out of charcoal. I'm looking at this grill to see if I can convert it and hook it up to a natural gas line.
