But that is $899 which is $150 more. I won't call that same price bracket. And this model has the higher tier 144Hz 100% sRGB 300-nits Screen vs that horrendous 250-nits 144HZ screen with 58% sRGB and over 20ms response time. For Pure gaming. I agree that even that 75W RTX 3060 in MSI will trump this but if you consider the other factors like the Display Quality, Slightly better Build (apart from the Display Wobble), bigger battery etc., this is not really a bad deal either. It can be a dual purpose work/editing and Gaming rig in budget for a lot of folks.

I know very little about computer specs but I am in dire need of something new. Would anyone help me out in deciding between this and https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/d...verviewtab

I would use the stylus with the laptop linked but it's not absolutely necessary for me to have. Absolutely any help or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated!

You are looking at two diametrically opposite laptops at opposite ends of spectrum. One is a very compact lightweight with non expandable ram and prize portability and don't have a very powerful graphic card and can only play older games or RTS (starcraft2) and FFS at low setting. At the other end is a midsize laptop that has more expandability and faster graphic card and significantly bigger with ability to play esports and FFS at low to medium setting at 1080p. Just to give you an idea, the 3050ti graphics in the victus is about 3X faster than the igpu in the acer spin.

The 5800H cpu is about 120% faster in multicore speed over the i7-1165G7 with the single core speed the same. In most daily tasks like web browsing and office, you won't notice much different. when you use stuffs like photoshop and heavier workload then you will definitely see 5800H is significantly faster.

also you can't upgrade the ram in the acer but you can go up to 64GB ram in the HP

You need to tell what you're planning to do with your computer to get a suggestion, rather than sharing random laptop links and saying which is better. Post your use cases, budget, whether you need portability and battery life etc. and we can suggest.

Does anyone know what the GPU wattage is and if this laptop is able to be charged via USB-C?

According to the specs though it looks like the USBC does support displayport which means it should support have external gsync support. It just makes no mention of the wattage nor charging.

If you go by what HP does for the omen series, there is no usb-c charging. They probably was thinkiing erroneously that usb-c doesnt supply enough power. True only for heavy gaming or cpu use. But 65-100W is def enough for the iGPU and light cpu load.

Yes, even if the MSI is i5-10500H, for gaming it would still be significantly faster than this HP victus

Or this:

Don't get me wrong. HP victus is definitely above the pavilion gaming laptop in term of quality but I think by the time we get to BF we are hopefully gonna see 3050 being $500. It's like past BF when HP pavilion with 1650 from WM and BB were around $450.
That MSI laptop is dogshit

+1 Thanks OP. This deal checked all the boxes for me on a general purpose laptop. It'll spend most of its life on a desk, so I don't expect to have hinge issues.

This laptop checks all the boxes all I need, great performance, great screen with 100% srgb as I will design. However, the downside is the wobble issue on the screen as I will be moving around a lot in my business.

Anyone has this computer that can confirm what I saw on the youtube videos about this?

I don't think I could recommend this laptop for your workflow if you're going to be in design. This is a budget oriented mid-range gaming laptop.

I would hold out for a deal on an MacBook Air with an M1 chip. You'll miss out on gaming, but that laptop is standard when it comes to productivity and design. It has a great screen, excellent performance, great battery life, best in class speakers, and MacOS X is the industry standard in many design fields.
