The deck has a lifetime warranty though. I believe EGO uses a plastic deck as well, and I've had no issues with that for 3 or 4 years now.

It features dual active battery ports and includes two 40V 6Ah batteries, providing up to 70 minutes of runtime which is ideal for yards up to ¾ acre.

Not to mention, a metal deck will eventually rust. My 15 year old Crastman I replaced had a few holes in the deck. I think these plastic decks will outlive the mowers.

Glad to see SD post say 2 batteries!! I didn't see it on the site but ordered and am looking forward to getting it!! Anyone know if this mower has like an eco/max blade speed? Reason I ask is because I have an older batt mower that still does well for grass but doesn't pick up leaves as well as gas mower. My old one kicks into high blade speed for thicker grass but wish it had a switch I could set to max speed for leaves in the fall/spring. Repped!!

I don't see how for people like me, we only use a mower when its dry out, and put it away dry. I don't have a single spec of rust on my riding steel stamped deck mower. I mean, if people leave them outside and mow in the wet. even then, it dries. it would take 100 years at my current use to have any degradation of deck.

but im an outlier, as I have a big shed, and I am a queen that if there's any moisture on the ground, meh I aint doing crap. meanwhile.. my neighbor don't give a crap. he only mows when its super tall and super wet, and he won't do anything nice with his property, his trees and bushes are overgrown his house, and he parks cars and shit in the yard. hope they move.. but they kinda just moved in a year ago.

would it be illegal for me to stand on my property border, and use a weed killer pellets and shoot them over as far as I can reach? >.>
I'm curious where you live. Here in Florida in summer time the grass is almost never dry. Might not look wet but the grass is so filled withbwater it's just a wet mess once cut.

Also LOL at the weed killing pellet idea. That would be hilarious

I currently have a Honda gas mower (hrr216) that's terrible. I mow once a week and the mulching just ends up as a clumping mess. It constantly dies out from grass getting stuck inside, etc. Is this electric mower going to be even worse power wise where it can't handle it?
My HRX217 is a beast. Have not tried a HRR216. It doesn't choke while mulching unless you are mowing very wet and tall grass. A good gas mower should deliver more power than an electric mower. Mine has been reliable but you have to clean/change the air filter, the oil once a year, check the spark plug, and keep ethanol-free gas on hand.

What about aftermarket batteries? Bought one back in the day for my drill with no issues. Will the dual blade setup fit on this model? I change my Hondas oil by just tipping it on the side as shown on YouTube.
Rather stick to OEM batteries. They are expensive but if they don't last 3 years you get a replacement under warranty. Aftermarket you are on your own most of the time.

In the HD Q&A it says you can't mount dual blades.

I do the maintenance stuff on my current Honda and it still starts on the 1st-2nd pull. But there are little things I can't fix like the chute filling up with grass despite the mulch lever being fully deployed. I have a half-inflated rubber ball jammed in the chute atm which is silly. The choke lever likes to slip from fast to slow while mowing.

Honda has had plastic decks on some of their mowers for a long time now. Never seen one fail.
Those are a thicker gauge and different plastic. They don't flex.

Ordered, thanks. Cheapest self propelled at Home Depot I was planning to buy is $399 with 1 battery and only 20". This is a steal, with 2 batteries.

Edit: The 21" side attachment on their site is not compatible with this mower. The listing for the mower says side discharge attachment is separate, however all the reviews and video unboxing I see look like it comes with the side attachment...?
I bought this exact model from Home Depot last week and it did come with the side dishcharge attachment. Not sure if the one from DTO would be different or not.

I ordered this same model from Home Depot last week and it did come with the side discharge piece. I know the DTO website says it's not included, but I think I would wait and see before ordering another one.

I didn't mow in the rain or soon after it rained and kept the mower in a shed, but I suppose grass is wet and other than removing clumps, I wasn't going along the inside to wipe down the deck.

My current gas Toro/Honda mower has a hose connect on the deck to run water through to clean it.

Seems like a great deal for the price, I got two of the non self propelled sister mowers for about $250 each in the last year. They work great but only had 1 battery included.
Similar situation for me - bought a self-propelled earlier in the year for 300+. it came with only 1 battery. Big mistake. Wished I held out for a 2 battery deal like this one. The 6ah battery lasts about 20 min, it took me 5 (yes 5) charges to mow a 1/4 acre lawn. Each full charge takes about 2 hours with the provided charger.

Great deal at current prices.

Looking for advice… I mow my 3 acres with a zero turn but have been looking to get a push mower to take care of more difficult/ narrow/ hilly areas. I was going to get a cheapo electric push mower (the ~$140), but then though self propelled would be nice ($209). Then tat $299 you get an additional 6ah 40V, but thinking it'd be overkill for what I needed it to do. Any thoughts/ recommendations?
3 acres? Don't use electric. If you do want to try it - make sure you can return it really easily when you realize how fast the battery runs out...

This seems like a really good deal when you compare this mower's price to the price of the EGO battery-powered mowers. Very tempting.

I don't see why it wouldn't because it's new and same model number. If it doesn't that seems to be a problem because it's not sold separately from what I researched. Would probably have to special order from manufacturer as a replacement part.
