Sword and shield are the newest versions they are in 3rd person. Diamond and pearl are remakes, they are like traditional pokemon. If your child has no pokemon games I'd go with sword or shield bc they are just more modern and accessible to someone just getting into the games.

This. I'm going to get Diamond because I had Pearl as a kid 🤣 but Sword and Shield are more modern. They're a little different than "traditional" Pokemon but the premise is the same. And Snap is a different game altogether - it's about taking pictures of Pokemon in habitats instead of catching them. IMO it's not as fun but I got it for the nostalgic value of N64 Pokemon Snap.

This has got to be as cheap as Snap will normally get right? Barring some weird fluke or clearance sale?

My Son lost our physical copies of Sword and Shield on a road trip. Great prices, but I'm really struggling pulling the trigger on another physical copy!

imo sword/shield are trash games. gimicky small open world, very hand-holdy, not challenging in the slightest. half the game is cutscenes, and you have a fixed camera view for all areas besides the open area in the middle, which makes it super annoying to explore. great for kids i guess

i'd def recommend ppl get diamond/pearl over sword/shield. way more content and entertaining to play.

also pokemon games are almost never on sale, so if you're thinkin about it, i'd jump on the deal. too bad i already own every game or i'd buy too

Great price. Picked up Pearl. Probably won't go much lower, for a while. Nintendo games like to keep their value...usually

If they're on the younger side, say around 7yrs, I'd recommend Let's Go.
