Go with the Epson. I bought my UHD50X last February and it has now started to show a dead white spot (pixels).

The warranty is only 1 year, so when I contacted Optoma, they said I would have to ship it back (I:d have to pay of course) then they would charge me $110 to diagnose what the issue is, then they would charge for the cost of the repair if I decided I wanted to go thru with the repair. This is unacceptable in my opinion and I will do what it takes to spare others.

I myself am considering the Epson 3800 now, while I maybe take apart the Optoma for fun.

Avoid Optoma.

I just opened an rma for my uhd50x. Haven't heard back yet. Less than 8 months and I have white pixels in the center. Frustrating.

Had my epson 1040 for years without any issues.
