I've played basically the first two "chapters", and here's my rough thoughts:
The battle system expands as you play more. It combines ATB with QTE. Units can transform, and one off-field unit can assist the team at times.
The setup is mysterious, as the characters have all lost their memory. Your job is to help them reclaim their memories, which helps shift the environment and advance the story.
This is primarily slice-of-life with fantasy elements. You're not saving the world or anything epic, so if you don't care for character-centric endeavors, this probably won't be up your alley.
There are aspects of crafting, and side quests help you unlock skills.
Overall, the game is what I'd call a "relaxing JRPG." It serves a niche, and if you're in that niche and know what you're getting into, then it's a good experience. If you're expecting it to be something it's not, or more than it is, it might not seem fun.
