Probably better than the Element TV but those 4 series are just ok. I think for 500 dollars you might get a better deal without the best buy 14 day return policy.

Per Rtings

The TCL 4 Series 2020 is an okay entry-level TV. It's pretty basic in terms of extra features, but that's expected for a model in this price range, and it performs fairly well for most uses.

Big poop tv! Cheap! Great for grandma and great for young kids who can't tell the difference in picture quality

Probably not even worth it for that. Will just frustrate with the slow buggy interface. With these cheap TVs you're better off with a roku one if possible.

I got my aging mother a 65" Hisense Google TV model for $250 on Black Friday deal in 2020 and it's been decent for her. I do have to unplug it occasionally because it freezes up, but that's par for the course for these super cheapo TVs I assume

We have a few older Roku TCLs and love them. Anyone know why TCL is going to Android TV?

Grandma needs a larger screen. 85 oled. She hates ghosting.

There's a 5 series 65" for $599.99. That seem like a better buy perhaps?

I have a TCL Android TV 65" from a few Black Friday (Target deal, November 2020), and it's been decent. The Android TV interface is kind of slow and laggy, and forget about playing any graphics-heavy Google Play games on it.. Barely can do Asphalt 8 at 30fps. But I haven't had any major issues or screen//panel defects. Definitely paid for itself for the $200 price.

Wouldn't a firestick fix that?

Fake news! I have this TV (black Friday deal) still going strong.
I also got the 55" TLC for the bedroom last BF deal (2020)- Granted, Google updates have ended and OS is "older" but 4gb of RAM was the deciding factor between this and the Hisense H6... also, a 4k "chromestick" or Firestick is an easy backup jic...

Unless you are fully vested in some other ecosystem this is a solid deal. I would set expectations for 2 yrs of life out of this device.

I have this TV and TCL 6 series, honestly during the day time I can't see a big difference between two TV's. It's only at night when 6 series has a better picture because of local deeming feature.

That's ridiculous, the TV will last plenty longer than 2yrs, don't confuse people. OS might not get support after 2yrs but you'll still totally be able to turn the thing on and use it for whatever purpose you need.

I was about to say. This 500$ tv will and should last much longer than 2 years.
I have a 55 inch 4 series from at least 4 yrs ago still going strong. Might even be 5 years.
Walmart refurb and it has never given me 1 problem.
