This has about the poorest rating you can get on a flat screen from rtings. Movies and gaming are awful and peak brightness in the 260 nit range is a joke. It has lousy black levels, and cannot get bright.
Looks like a really nice deal as far as VA paneled budget 70 inchers go. My first budget Hisense was a workhorse for 7 years before I had to replace the LED strips. TCL and Hisense budget TVs are frowned upon by some but I'm glad they exist.

Keep in mind the model in this thread is a 70" with a VA panel. The RTINGS review you are referencing is for a 65" with an IPS panel, thus the lousy black levels (low contrast). Since RTINGS heavily weighs contrast ratio in their movie and gaming ratings, this 70" will perform better than the RTINGS review indicates. Not much to say about the brightness other than... all the major players' entry models except Sony and LG have peak nits <300. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/a6g

Would u get this or the 65 inch hisense roku from costco
It really depends on which 65" Hisense you're talking about. Costco carries two different models. The U series is a better TV.
Yeah the u that was just on sale. Think it was 550 for a 65 inch roku. I had it in my cart and I think the sale is over. I might just get this.
Anyone have experience with an open box from best buy?
I bought a refurb from walmart before and it was fine.

I would go with the 65U6gr5 from Costco. It's suppose to be on sale through 6/5. Is it OOS in your area? It's still available in my area. Never done an open-box deal from BB since there's never has really good deals on open-box deals in my area. https://www.costco.com/hisense-65...11374.html

If it suits your needs, I wouldn't hesitate to grab this 70 at all. I've had great luck with inexpensive Hisense models. I have a 50" Walmart display model that I purchased over 7 years ago that I left on about 10 hours a day before a LED strip gave out. A quick cheap repair and she's still kickin.
