The heat sink isn't pre-applied. There's one in the box.

This drive is supposed to work very well even at high temperatures and so the heat sink they supply isn't much.

I ignored the one they supplied and used one that came with my motherboard. More substantial.

Drive is great.

PC uses may need to set CSM disabled in BIOS to be able to consIstently detect the drive on cold boot.

Up to 6100MB/s (PS5)

OP doesn't say it but this M.2 SSD comes with a heatsink pre-installed.
Amazon also sells this for the same price AC: https://www.amazon.com/XPG-2TB-GA...NV47J?th=1

Amazon reviews suggest the HS on this is pretty thin. Probably a good idea to remove it and or put another HS over the top. I'm going to use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

This is a pretty solid deal for a high performance Gen 4 Drive, not those QLC based DRAM less drives, barely hitting the performance of higher tier Gen 3 drive.

Can you use a gen4 on a Mobo that is gen3? Are they backward compatible?

PC Enthusiasts noted this got near advertised speeds and was pretty supportive of the drive overall but said that the HS suuplied is too thin:

Yes but I wouldn't spend the extra money unless you plan on using this in a new build soon.

Currently using this SSD in the PS5. Works just fine. Use a different heatsink though. The one included with the ssd is pretty weak.
