I think that using these will definitely be better than using no mask, and most likely better than a standard surgical mask but just FYI that according to the FDA website, specifically the disposable KN95 respirators from Guangdong Nuokang Medical Technology Co., Ltd. have had their EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) revoked as of June 2021.
Here is a guide for understanding whether or not your KN95 has been approved, from Jan 2022: (edit: this paragraph is regarding N95, not KN95 but further down, it does refer to KN95s specifically) https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/c...s/2727939/
Notable details that might apply to this slickdeal posting - I couldn't find these details on the photos on the amazon listing:
-No markings at all on the filtering facepiece respirator (FFR)
-NIOSH markings must be clearly visible either on the covering itself, or within the packaging
-NIOSH-approved coverings must have an approval number on the mask or the headband
According to the Amazon listing, these are the details of the mask:
Manufacturer: Guangdong Nuokang Medical Technology Co., Ltd.
Part Number: NuoK-9501
Item model number: Kn95-b-50
I remember an expert speaking of KN95 masks saying that if it doesn't have the straps around your head then it's 100% fake. 🤷🏻 ♂️
Yes, it looks like that's also something the same article refers to for understanding if the mask is a true N95 or not: "-NIOSH-approved FFR's have headbands, not ear-loops."
But it seems that this article that I referred to is referring to N95 and not KN95s. I referred to the link to nbcchicago as talking about N95s but this detail is about KN95s (sorry!) source: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/c...s/2727939/
As for KN95s, it seems like it might be really difficult to tell if they really are meeting the approvals for true KN95s: "Chang says it's fair to assume that most KN95s on the market are fakes. Everyone we've talked to says it is very difficult, without sophisticated testing, to tell the difference between a real KN95 and a counterfeit one. "The issue with KN95 masks is that there is no regulatory agency ensuring that manufacturers actually meet the KN95 standard," says Chang. Without a Chinese governmental agency similar to NIOSH or to Korea's FDA, anybody can claim they are selling masks with KN95-level filtration."
Apparently it is possible to verify through these sites:
" But if you're an adult looking for authentic KN95s, he suggests only buying from reputable sources. "Don't buy random brands from Amazon or eBay. My recommendation is ProjectN95, BeHealthyUSA, KollecteUSA, or, if using Amazon, verify that you are purchasing from the brand's 'official' store," he says." source: https://nymag.com/strategist/arti...ction.html
I've gone to ProjectN95 before, to look at what's on their list, then bought through other retailers also. So far, I only see Powecom, Kingfa, and AOK Tooling's KN95s listed on the site.

No, not correct. You can get KN95 with the head straps so the fit on the face is much tighter, and the mask works better. Head straps are the way to go.
If it's sterile and completely sealed around your face, it *might* keep you from getting Covid. Until you touch it, or sneeze, or yawn, or get a gap. You'll need to use at least 5-10 of them per day, so stock up!
/le sigh.
The masks are not [primarily] about protecting you. They're about keeping whatever you've got from spreading [as easily] to everyone else.
How did the prisoner's paradox fail so completely?
