While I love this game, I strongly recommend the Ares Expedition version that streamlines the original. My group of friends and I have played the original about 17 times or so, but last week we tried the Ares Expedition and can't get enough. To put it simply, it makes the game more fun for casual players and has fewer build-up elements (boring steps of the game) than the original. This is a great deal and I love the original, but not as many people share the same level of enthusiasm as I do for board games -- but the streamlined version is great for everyone.

What a great deal about an amazing game. Wish all my friends and me didn't already own it so I could enjoy the deal.

A great game that both new players and veterans can enjoy. The only downside is the quality of the pieces and board (compared to Scythe or Terra Mystica). Under $40 I guess it is a good deal.

I'm an intelligent person but could not figure this game out just by reading the instructions. I have no experience at all with this style of game, so maybe that had something to do with it. But both me and my friend (also intelligent) failed to get off the ground with this. I was really looking forward to it because of all the great things I've read.

We didn't try looking for any Youtube instructional videos or anything like that but got super frustrated with the printed instructions and gave up.

Just a heads up for any non-board-gamers planning to jump into this.
It is a classic Euro boardgame with a cool theme. You first build your cash flow engine (resources in this game) and chasing for victory point (contribution in terraforming). It is more like a race despite a direct war between players.

Just got the Ares version for $27 including tax on a recent deal. Need to play it!

A lot of time these games are easier to watch a video. Modern games have a lot of rules and it can be hard to understand the rules without seeing all the pieces fit together. Once you get it though the gameplay is straight forward, but the strategy is deep and has lots of variety. If you can keep at it, I think you and your friend will find the experience worthwhile.

Why not using the app instead? The game rules are indeed kinda tedious

I cannot agree enough, the rules are helpful but unfortunately a video or two is needed to wrap your head around a lot of these great games.
