Bought this on Amazon a month ago. Put a 32" monitor on the back and holds it weight just fine (have to tighten it of course). Lowering and raising it is not all that great if you have heavy stuff on top as you have to loosen the left and right sides before it'll move. Great little work from home desk for only $40, but definitely not worth $100+.
Those turn screws are crap and won't last. If you drill some holes in the metal for the post to go into it'll be permanent but it'll hold.
Yeah that crossbar is a major buzz kill

I bought the slightly smaller version of this from Amazon a few months ago for $50. I use it as an audio recording setup, holding a mic and a laptop. I chose not to attach the side piece, and it fits snugly in a closet. Not terribly large, but honestly big enough for a secondary desk and well-built enough for that purpose as well. I would think the wider nature of this particular XL desk would make it better for people with single monitor + laptop setup.
The non-split shelf is not 38 inches wide, it's under 24 inches which is about the size of the smaller ones., And the depth is not much more than the smaller ones either. Framing probably couldn't handle too much moreShelving, what's the weight limit?Does anyone make these without the cross bar structure? Because we would rather be able to have storage drawers underneath or shelves. How long have you guys had yours do you think the turn screw kind of latch will hold the shelves up for years?

where did you get that? Probably from here? : "Assembled Dimensions: 21.5″ L x 38.5″ W x 30″-44.13″ H Main Tabletop: 11.88″ L x 31.5″ W Second Level table top : 11.88″ L x 23.63″ W Second Level Side Tabletop: 11.88″ L x 7.75″ W Side Storage Shelf: 15.25″ L x 8.75″ W I didn't see that till now but I went by the measurements on the diagram for the black oneOn a different Amazon page, please look at that diagram where they write the dimensions right on top of the picture, I assume they're the same model, different colorYour dimensions make more sense with the way the White ones picture looks, the black one Dimensions on pictures seem off. But someone mentions they had different measurements also.
