Does that make this a "bad" unit? Honestly asking.

Not an expert, but seems like it doesn't hit the Good (CEER 11) or Energy Star (CEER 12) level of efficiency for the range of its BTU.

yeah. dual hose is way better than single hose.
instead of grabbing the hot air an ac gives off, it has access to better temperature air(separate hoses) .

we own a dual hose and during my research, single hose wasnt even worth it considering a dual hose (similar btu) will run 100-150 more and cool the room 3x quicker on average. This way you save money on electricity as well.

I believe Costco will have the slightly higher-model (PACEM375WRC) on sale for ~$20 more starting tomorrow.

Think the 375WRC has a 'Arctic Whisper' mode that this one does not. But totally dependent on what the buyer needs out of a portable AC.

Should this one be considered for dehumidifier purposes only?

A single hose doesn't grab the hot air from the condenser, that's what's going out the single hose to the outside. Technically speaking you're actually cooling the condenser off better with a single hose as you're using room air and not outside air. The problem with a single hose is you're using room cooled air to pass through the condenser and exhausting it outside creating a negative airflow in the room or house and it will makeup that air by pulling it under the door from other areas if in a closed room. A single hose causes infiltration and you'll create a negative air pressure in your home. You're correct a dual hose or better yet a window mounted unit is the better option by far. A window unit is best if possible as you'll never have condensation issues as it's run outside and drips out there and with a portable you might have issues in a very humid climate or if it's set to dehumidify.

Hmm... Review is quite bad with only 2.2 out of 5.

Portable AC's are just flat out terrible. I have one of the best ones you can get, the Toshiba 14,000/12,000 BTU one which is dual hose. It's rated for a 500-600 sq ft room but cant even properly cool a 225 sq ft room. Also had the top of the line LG single hose one everyone raves about and that was even worse.

Portable ACs are all about convenience, not efficiency. A portable unit does blow hot air outside, but the heat from the compressor/condenser coils is still in the room.

I have a window unit but purchased this for a different room where a window unit will not work. It is more expensive and has less cooling than a window unit, again it's about convenience, not efficiency

Even if you're buying for the convenience, there is no reason to buy a single hose.
Buy dual hose and you will actually save more money from electricity at the end of the day.
