The 5a is the last Pixel with a headphone jack 😭
These don't really look like slick deals. The 5a is normally $450 and this deal is for $430.
I have a Pixel 5 and love it. It's been a great phone, for a year now.

Having said that... it will likely receive it's last security update in October 2023. And the Pixel 6a is two months away at $450 as well and will have 5 years of updates.

The 6a also has a new chip, but the 6's seem a bit buggy right now. The 5 has an older, slower chip, but the phone feels stable and fast.

Can somebody take me into or out of a 5? I'm wary of the age but the unlimited photo storage is somewhat valuable to me.

Debating if I should get this or wait for deals on 6. I need something soonish since my Pixel 2 XL is starting to show its age (freezing/crashing every day or two).

I am in a similar boat lol. I just bought a pixel 3 brand new a while ago, and actually do not mind it. I love the wireless charging, it is a bit laggy, but functional. The pixel 3/5/6 are the only models that have wireless charging, which has become a deal breaker for me (I refuse to buy any non wireless charging equipped phone). So this makes the 5 attractive to me. There is also double the ram, better chip, and a huge battery. Plus the Pixel 5 seems to be the same size as the 3 which is (for me) the perfect size. The 6 seems quite big, which may be good for some. So this phone would be (in my opinion) a great update for your pixel 2 since it is a similar size, but with huge updates plus a few more years of OS upgrades. I think they said it will be guaranteed to Android 14?
I see many people have had issues with the 6, and I wonder if it will take google a few generations to work out the kinks on these, since they are using their own chips. So maybe get this one now, and then upgrade to the pixel 8 or whatever comes down the road lol.

Good luck! The pixel 2 rocks!

I'd take a look at the sizes, you have a 2XL so a 6 might be good for you.

I sold my 5 for a 6 and regret it. The 6 has worse battery life and is much larger and slippery. It does have much better performance though.

If you game at all, the 5 might not be suitable.

Thanks. I'm leaning toward going for it.

My 2 XL is slightly bigger than I prefer TBH. I only got the XL because of the massive discounts they offered on it a few months after release.

As I typed this my phone crashed and restarted lol.

I've had the 5 since it came out (upgraded from a 3XL and an XL before that). Performance-wise, it's great, but the size took some getting used to coming from the XL models. If the 2XL is a little bigger than what you prefer, the 5 could be a great fit for you...

I bought the 5a as a temporary device to hold me over until I could get my hands on a 6pro. When I finally got the 6pro I used it for a week before returning it and going back to the 5a. I really like the size of the 5a, battery life is ridiculous (2 days easy), better finger print scanner, and subjectively less bugs. The 5a is not as fast as the 6pro and I do miss wireless charging but for me the tradeoffs are worth it. Good luck

Might the most compelling argument against the 5 be waiting on the 6a to hit (end of July) for the same price?

I have had a 5 for 2 years. Absolute best phone I've ever had, and I've had Android models for 13 years. Obscene camera quality and battery life. It's 10/10

As you mentioned, be prepared for the lack of unlimited photo storage moving on from the Pixel 2XL.

I switched from the 2XL in January to the 6 pro and am already being hounded by Google for going over my 17 GB storage limit. And I don't take a lot of pictures/videos. Not looking forward to having to pay for storage with their Google One plan or whatever the heck it is.

Main reason I made the switch was because of battery life, lagginess, and a cracked screen.

So I went from a 3 to a 6 when it came out. I absolutely dislike the size and weight of the 6. I also hate how slippery it is, so for the first time ever I had to buy a phone case (and make an already large phone even bigger). I just bought a 5 from this deal to see if the 5 is a better phone for me.

I understand it'll get software support via updates but I"m guessing if you tried to get warranty support Google would say Woot isn't an authorized seller. Does anyone know or have experience with this?
TIA 🙂
