32gb kits don't sell for $55. You're probably thinking 2x8gb.

Anyway team products are decent if cheap enough. Biggest downside I've run into over the years is being required to pay for shipping to taiwan in order for them to process a rma replacement. I'd recommend testing right away - if there's a defect you'll want to catch it within the amazon return period.

CL16 isn't that slow. $100 RAM and $130 2TB SSD is a deal.

I understand the concerns with wear on a hard drive but some of you guys don't make much sense. Unless your using it as a scratch drive to move big files often I can't for the life of me see why anyone would be concerned about TBW. Lets do some napkin math here 3600TBs = 3,600,000 GBs. Lets say you installed and uninstalled a 150GB file every day. It would still take you more then 60+ years to fully wear out the drive. I really can't see how someone would be using the same HDD for more then 20 years if that long to worry about fully wearing down all the memory cells of a SSD, It might be possible in the past but these days? Doubtful.

I wish they had a deal like this for laptop memory.
Search for 'teamgroup bundle' on amazon. The last time they offered these deals, they had at least 9-10 bundles including laptop ram.

This is a great deal. I got the same drive and ram except for a 1tb gen 4 drive. Both are in my system and working great.

So don't listen to the whining and complaining about it. It's a great deal on good product.

3,600TBW!!! Meh performance for a 4.0 drive though, but still more than good enough for most people. Label is a bonus heat spreader.

https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/tea...-zero-z440

Times on the RAM are CL 16-20-20-40, which is acceptable. I'd think of it as $80GB for the RAM and $160 for the SSD which is a good deal.
LOL, you should look at some of the QLC drives coming out with 300-600TBW.

Those I'd worry about them dying before I was done using them. 3600 is fine. So is the drive.

3,600TBW is great. Almost enterprise levels.

Hello everyone. I currently have Aurora R8 with two free slots and two occupying 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2666 UDIMM. Can I install these in my mother board and keep the other two or will it create a problem. I see these are 3200 Mhz as oppose to my current ones that are 2666 Mhz.

You have three options:
1. Dispose of the old RAM and use the faster new RAM. 32GB is more than plenty for most users.
2. Run the the kits together at the default speed of the slower RAM. Normally modern boards will default to a lowest common denominator of JEDEC.
3. Overclock old kit to match the new RAM as much as possible. 3200 Mhz RAM is really just 2666 or 2400 over clocked. I'm not sure how much your pre-built will let you tinker.

I'm fresh from looking at QLC nvme drives with TBW's that meant the drive would last about 5 years for me.

Considering except for the OCZ drives that were crap a few years back, I still have every single SSD that I ever bought. The old SLC drives in the 256GB-512GB drives in an external case are excellent for backups.

Hello, just out of curiosity, this is what I currently have in my machine.

1. I would think this memory would be compatible to replace what I have now?
2. Would I really notice that much of a difference doubling the RAM and a higher clock speed, I'm really in the market for a bigger SSD than anything, but this seems like a good deal to add both.

Thanks for the that info. I mostly just browse internet, watch YouTube and play games rarely. Do you think this upgrade is worth it for me?

16GB is enough for that. If you need more hard drive space, there's a number of NVMe 2TB drives for just under $160.

16GB is dramatic overkill for the first two, and currently you don't need more than 16GB for gaming purposes. As of writing, you really only need more than 16GB of RAM if you use your rig for various creative purposes, e.g. game development, 3d modeling, etc.

The Phison E16 controller has a family of 3600TBW drives from other companies too. The newer controller either burns out the NAND cells faster or less faith on the warranty. Anyone hit the TBW limit on an NVME 1.4 drive care to comment?
My MacStudio 512G version is using Toshiba NAND at about 4300 MB/s(read) and 3500 MB/s(write). I think Apple may also like this long endurance for their product. The latest 7000/6100MB/s are hot and have much less endurance like 1400TBW for 2TB.

I have MSI M470 which is using Phison E16 + Toshiba Bics4 and tested in my old PCIe Gen 2x2. The temperature is about 30C(idle) and 42C(when running tests). This is great for NVME enclosure usage.

Vendors like Gigabyte/MSI seems to be warranted based on the TBW, the warranty is either 5 years or 3600 TBW(from Smart Info) whichever reaches first.

This is common for Phison E16 + Toshiba TLC Bics4 NAND at 2TB model. For ex, AORUS/MSI M470/Inland Performance model have very similar numbers. You can check from this http://www.johnnylucky.org/data-s...abase.html for controller/NAND and SLC/DRAM cache, TBW and warranty. In the shell of various brand, there is no much variations in the core.
Currently(see several reports) WD SN850 is THE winner for speed and the doesn't degrade much under super large file operations. But they are very hot and heatsink is required. And Phison E16 + Toshiba Bics4 is the clear winner endurance for 3600 TBW(2TB model) vs 1200/1400 TBW(most other 2TB).
My MacStudio 512GB model seems to use the same Toshiba Bics4 NAND. I think Apple actually appreciate this endurance.

The larger TBW actually gives better protection buffer over the probability of failure due to wear. All those numbers(600TBW, 1200TBW, 3600TBW) are just theoretical numbers(exceed those threshold doesn't necessarily fail your drive immediately and below them will not 100% guarantee the drive are reliable) and better endurance will reduce the chance of exceptions.

Also, MSI/Gigabyte NVME warranty is 5 years or TBW whichever reaches first. Not sure if Hynix/WD/Samsung has similar terms. So larger TBW is actually a favorable term for the long warranty.

And in addition, as of today you don't actually pay more to get the long endurance, WHY NOT? Given to those most popular PCIE G4 NVME(Phison E16 + Toshiba TLC Bics4 NAND) priced at $95(Inland performance 1TB 1800TBW 6 years?, $189 for 2TB, 3600TBW), MSI M470(1TB at $104, 1600TBW, 5 years, 2TB at $220) today vs vendors like Hynix old P31 Gen 3 is tagged as $198 2TB at 1200TBW, $109 1TB. Also WD SN770 doesn't have DRAM cache and haver poor performance. I will have NO hesitation to buy those longer endurance NVME just as what Apple equip my MacStudio(it uses the same Toshiba TLC NAND).

In addition, the temperature control is great, my MacStudio NAND is only 19C at idle and my MSI M470 is 30C at idle in the chassis and top at 40C without heatsink. This will make it a good choice for NVME external enclosure.
