It's a HP (brushless) starter kit. As in you have everything you need to make any Ryobi HP brushless tool work at maximum efficiency (except outdoor tools).

You literally do not need to use the HP batteries on your Ryobi HP tools, but with this kit you can take full advantage of the performance of your HP tools vs the non HP batteries. You don't like how heavy they are with a 6ah or even 4ah battery? Great we got your 2ah one right here. Oh the 2ah does not last long enough? Great we got the 6ah. What's that still to heavy? Fine the 4ah is just right, now shut up and buy some more HP tools to take advantage of your starter kit. Here, we even give you a free tool as a bonus so you can really start off right and don't need to really buy more HP batteries unless you want to.

Yes, but with a caveat...

You cannot ship the one you want to keep to house and choose to pick up the one you don't and cancel it.

Choosing the most expensive tool, the battery kit is then $107.61, but you will have to return the tool you don't want to keep.

I've never personally had a problem. Although I live in Michigan and take the batteries inside for the winter. They have all held up well and I 've had them for years.

Just in case it matters... bought the rectangular 3 gallon wet/dry vac bc I like the compact design over the usual round ones. Parts of it feel very dinky like they're going to break. It just doesn't seem durable or have much power. Although I didn't expect much bc it is not a true shop vac, I was surprised to see the blower feature clears sawdust about the same as a person would blow out birthday candles.

Inside are cheap Chinese 2000mAh cells, even in 40V batteries. You can't compare them with Samsung or LG cells in Dewalt and Milwaukee. But the price is also much lower.

This is a better deal than the $99 kit. Most of the tools offered with the $99 kit are the lowest (and outdated) models that can be had in their basic 6-tool combo that goes on sale a few times a year for $200 (or $150 from DTO on sale). They can also be obtained as recons from DTO really cheap.

The HP batteries and brushless tools of this kit are much better and well worth the price difference.

I like the 7.5 saw, I upgraded earlier this year from the crappy 5" or whatever weird blade size saw that came as a package years ago. This one has more power and cuts better if you are running the hp batteries. I cut about 10 sheets of 1/2 inch ply with the kreg jig no problem.

I've got a ton of Ryobi tools and I agree, the non-brushless circular saw is not very good.

Yes, that appears to be the case. One now has to jump through a hoop or two. For those picking up in store, not a big deal with simply returning whichever before they leave. For those where a store is a distance, one will have to request a pickup return for whatever reason.

Eventually, this so called 'hack' will go away and the 'deals' will be combined in one price in the cart like Lowes and others do; with perhaps a lot more 'useful' tools to choose from at a non-inflated price.
