It's a HP (brushless) starter kit. As in you have everything you need to make any Ryobi HP brushless tool work at maximum efficiency (except outdoor tools).

You literally do not need to use the HP batteries on your Ryobi HP tools, but with this kit you can take full advantage of the performance of your HP tools vs the non HP batteries. You don't like how heavy they are with a 6ah or even 4ah battery? Great we got your 2ah one right here. Oh the 2ah does not last long enough? Great we got the 6ah. What's that still to heavy? Fine the 4ah is just right, now shut up and buy some more HP tools to take advantage of your starter kit. Here, we even give you a free tool as a bonus so you can really start off right and don't need to really buy more HP batteries unless you want to.
Yes, but with a caveat...

You cannot ship the one you want to keep to house and choose to pick up the one you don't and cancel it.

Choosing the most expensive tool, the battery kit is then $107.61, but you will have to return the tool you don't want to keep.
Plus free tool?

Yes, they do.

What is the best way to:
1.) Buy the batteries

2.) Return the extra tool to either a) make batteries cheaper or 2) exchange for a tool I want like the Ryobi power washer?

I saw some mention of the deal "hack" early on the post, but could not find complete details.

1. right now buy either the $99 or $199 Battery + Free Tool deal and select your free tool. Ensure you buy these as separate items (meaning you first select the battery as a sku then select the tool as a sku. I say this because there are also Battery + Free Tool deals where they are sold as a single sku and you don't want this).
2. Your receipt should show 2 line items, one being the batteries for whatever the deal amount was and the tool should show as free. The receipt will also show a 'return value' for each showing what you will get back if you return either the batteries or the tool
3. take the item you are returning to customer service and do a normal return
4. this is a bonus step: Afterwards go back inside and buy ANOTHER battery + free tool deal and return whichever you don't want. It takes balls to do this, but I just did it and it works

Like I said, others may have had better luck. You obviously had better luck.
I have had that problem with a battery that ran down to far (fan left on). Few years back a kind user on SD mentioned the fix. If you have the green charger it doesn't recognize the battery if voltage to low. Recommended using an older style charger that looked like it but black. Got one from a family member and all my battery problems solved.

Any feedback on the chainsaw?
I use it for camping. It is awesome. Had a 10 inch black and decker before this, the ryobi brushless really out performs it.

Can't figure out how to hack this with deliveries to different stores. Seem only able to ship both to same store.

You can choose to pick up the batteries into one store, and never pick up the tool in another store, of vice versa.

anyone have any feedback on the 1/4" Extended Reach Ratchet?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../316631066

i borrowed a bunch of my ryobi tools and batteries to my father in law and all the tools made it back, but not all the batteries! He's 80 years old so I don't intend to hassle him about missing batteries but i guess it's time to restock.

Can't you just return the item you don't need later?

Doesn't have to be later. You can literally return it that same visit to the store.

This seemed like a smokin deal to me… are these batteries likely to be this affordable on a regular basis? Just curious.
