The popcorn that this style of popcorn makers produces tastes great. Before you think about buying a hot air popcorn maker for $20 buy one of these instead.

Perhaps you have never tried world renowned Garrett's popcorn that is all cooked in air machines with no oils. The angel or mushroom type of popcorn with the rest of the ingredients of choice more than make up for it.

For this Cuisinart, they need to leave the non-stick coating off the cooking pan that the circulating wires remove over time. Maybe that is supposed to improve the taste.

The original version had glass on all sides, including the removable door. The pan comes out easy enough with a clip on the side, but if not careful, the all plastic vision panels of today will get hazy and not so great looking.

Personally I got a double door unit from amazon, not too bad for cleaning. you basically need room to get a soapy sponge in there with paper towels to clean these up. If you can't get your hand in between a unit I'd return it.

Thanks! Same one we used at the bar/restaurant to season at the end.

I'm trying to find a good buttery oil to pop the corn in. Any recommendations?

For those of you debating air poppers vs microwave popper vs automatic poppers like this.... A pot on the stove is the best way to make popcorn. A little bit of vegetable oil and some kernels and some shaking. It takes all of 5 minutes to make a batch. It is pretty simple to do - I've been making it on the stove since I was about 10.

Get a good pot and it will last a lifetime (my current pot is from my grandparents and its over 50 years old). No leeching plastics or cancerous anti stick coating involved. Clean up is just washing a pot.

No no no......you add flavacol in with the popping oil in the kettle.

Here's, the perfect recipe:
Popcorn, popping oil and flavacol go in the kettle at the same time

Then put finishing topping on once you put it in your bucket/bag.

There's a difference between popping oil and topping oil. I buy mine at Smart n Final if you have one. Waaaayyyy cheaper than Amazon.

I love hearing stuff like this. A few years back I was consistently using a trimmer that my grandfather was probably using to cut my uncle's hair back in the 60's. Still works perfectly.

I had no idea Garrett's was oil free & cooked in air machines. I used to be addicted to their Chicago mix.

One mix has brown sugar, vanilla and I think butter, etc. Another has cheddar cheese; lots of it. I don't know much about cholesterol and oil types, or counting calories, but everything in moderation has worked so far.... as long as I stay away from Garrett's and filled Mello Cream donuts that are addictive.
