Here is the explanation of the discounts when a shop card is involved:
Let's say an example item is $399.99 to purchase and you would get a $100 shop card purchasing it.
The total value of products you'll receive is $399.99 plus $100 worth of other products you choose to buy later. You're getting essentially $499.99 of value, and you've spent $399.99. Thus this amounts to a $100 savings on a value of $499.99 which is a 20% discount.
This is the basis for how the discounts are calculated within the charts in the original post.

With Costco bundle you are also getting extra battery and it is brand new with Costco warranty and price is $440 - $100 = $340.

Just in case you get a snobby employee, grab a pizza, go wait by your car and enjoy nice warm weather. When you think everyone forgot about you, and you won't look suspicious to the managers who watch for that stuff, just go return the damn new one.
I don't risk returning stuff like that for the same of being able to look up past receipts on my main Costco card.
But I do it all the time on my wife's card. I'll just swap them and have her go back in and return what I just bought. & to them hers looks like a normal return and since it's brand new they don't care for a reason after you say: It's new. I just changed my mind and don't want it.

They give up before putting the gloves on. I'd fight and go in person and ask for a manager and tell them that you reviewed their policy and that you're not trying to be a Karen but you do want the value of that hard earned money you gave up, thinking you'd get that Costco shop card for a little discount. They disengage if they're tense if I say I like shopping here but blah blah. I feel ignored and invisible. I make them feel guilty with a sob story that doesn't sound too fake and isn't complicated, by throwing in some visible frustration.
Right for your cards people. Rebates are hard to redeem for a reason. This is the modern rebate.
Well just tell you well send it so we don't have to hire someone to find any reason to deny you. We'll just straight up rob you now and make you beg for that discount.
And now they are marking up prices so bluntly with the pretext of inflation, and they can do it because you guys are too lazy to educate yourselves a little.
I'm about to go full on get my damn card for a freaking xfinity and just thinking about it exhausts me. But I'm not rich or poor. I just want what was promised to me and I'm gonna get it.
Take pictures of your receipts, the item, and the promotion on the flyer, and the price at the time of the promotion.
It'll make it easier for them not to deny or try to fight you if you're able to go inside a store.
I won't risk that anymore. Especially and only for heavy stuff.

I guess what I am trying to say is that they are not out to get you. Squeaky wheel gets the grease though, so you only ever hear about the times it didn't work out. With Costco especially it is NBD, because for the most part you can just return something if they ever fail to deliver the GC, but 99/100 times it will be seemless and those screenshots will be forgotten about. But for sure get your gift card if it was advertised, don't let them keep it.
