It worked for me in store yesterday after some issue initially. The item was $3.19 when checked out at self checkout but the $4 coupon wouldn't work. The employee there indicated it is bcoz the coupon is more than item cost. For some reason, the price on the shelf was $4.30. So I mentioned the same to the employee and he manually overwrote the price to $4.30 without even checking the shelf and then the coupon worked. Not sure if there was a way for me to make it work with the $3.19 scanned price. This way the item would have been absolutely free.
It worked for me today at the store when I was also buying a bottle of Aspirin in the same transaction. I used self checkout. I remember someone said that transactions with $0 balance were problematic at Target before. So I always made sure to buy something else in the same transaction if one item ended up being free after coupon. I have never tried to checkout with $0 balance myself so I am not 100% sure if $0 balance would cause problem at Target (but I am 100% sure $0 balance will cause problem at CVS self-checkout.) When coupon amount is more than the item price, Target register (including self-checkout) will automatically adjust the coupon amount to be the same as the item price.

I bought $20 worth of stuff last week and it still didn't apply the air warmer discount. This is clearly bait garbage from Target.
