If you look at the linked video in my previous post for the disassembly and parts upgrade, this 2022 model, TE02 series looks completely different and bigger than the 2021 model (TE01). This looks like a slightly redesigned HP Omen 25L Desktop which mostly uses standard components like ATX motherboard and Power supply. The CPU Cooler height is also bigger compared to the last year model.

Also, after doing some digging, I am finally able to found out the exact motherboard detail and that is a good news because it is using standard uATX form factor. The Bios SSID is 894B and from their, I was able to found the details:

Legit concern: the YT video shows about 1" left of space between the (assuming 3060) stock card and the front of the unit, due to the placement of a hard drive cage right there. If that were removed, you'd have a bit more room for longer cards.

That said, without knowing the specs of the 3060 unit in use, it's hard to compare and know what would and wouldn't work. But based on the fact you can spec this with a 3070Ti, it's clear at least HP's version of that would work...

Victus has same config but $100 cheaper
Only thing is I believe the victus is essentially the new gaming pavilion line, and not friendly to upgrading as it's all proprietary parts.

I may be wrong.

You're correct. Pavilion gaming and Victus use same motherboard and psu abd neither are standard.

If you watch the teardown, there's one on the bottom front and in the back, but there's definitely room for two fans in the top as the case is vented.

Worst case scenario, it appears the MB is standard and could be swapped into a better case. It even has a regular 24 pin power connection and 2 m.2 slots.

The price is good for being 12th gen i5 with a 3060ti.. but they are sorta ripping you off with the single 512gb SSD and only 8 gb ram, you're gonna drop another $150 upping the ram to matched 16gb dual channel ram and a 1tb SSD storage drive which kind of kills the deal.
You can add any 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz Ram, just make sure that the Cache latency is same. That'll cost around $30 and $70 for an 1TB gen 3 SSD. If you look for deals, another $100 is all you need.

I took the liberty of checking it out. The only options to differentiate the two are the Victus comes with 500w bronze psu. The coupon code in this offer will not apply to the Victus and therefor a 5% one is the best option. Using the code it comes in at $1,005

One would better off ordering the base model and upgrading themselves as the upgrade charges are ripoffs sans 3060-3060ti for $50

There are some other differences which can't be understood by just looking at the speciation. Read the comments on this thread. For starters, Victus desktop use proprietary components in key areas like PSU and motherboard, making them practically useless outside that specific chassis. Also, the size of Victus is pretty small inside, preventing you to upgrade anything over 3060 ti. This one is a 25l chassis, has options for more fans, standard uATX motherboard, Thunderbolt 4 Port and even a better cpu cooler.

Oh I am aware, that's why I only mentioned "options". There simply isn't a higher option than the ti on the Ventus b/c of the psu limitation.

Would prefer i7 and 16GB ram but this is 12th gen Intel right? Still not bad when you figure a 3060 ti is ~$600.

My last HP desktop was incredibly noisy, not like my current Dell, which is as quiet as a mouse. Any ideas about the fan/noise levels on this baby?

Depends upon which model you have. HP makes a lot of different variants of Desktop at different price point, with different build and cooling solution.

Trying to figure out what's best, newbie.

I like the NZXT build below, almost all the same components, but the only knock is the CPU is i5-10400F. Is there a big difference between 10th and 12th generation? I like the upgrade ability of NZXT which doesn't use proprietary parts. Any advice would help?

Chassis Info: https://youtu.be/RVSveCM-Sds

Specs are great, chassis is your typical mass market consumer desktop tower chassis. One small intake fan, one small exhaust fan. HP put a lot of exhaust vents up top; not sure if you can mount fans there. Hard drive cage limits front mounted fan size/quantity.

I'd be interested to see how well temps are regulated here, but for most people this is a solid gaming desktop. Is it a "deal" at this price? Hard to say. We've been used to inflated prices for so long that we see "3060 Ti" and forget it's supposed to be a $300-$400 card at MSRP; is the rest of the chassis and components worth $600+?

Huge difference between 12400 and 10400F. 12400 performance in gaming is equivalent to an 8 core i7-10700.

This isn't entirely true.

You'll get the added capacity, but it's not going to run in dual channel bandwidth on every motherboard.

Also, no need to match latencies if you're just going to haphazardly throw random dimms in.

A properly paired 16GB set isn't that expensive compared to a single 8GB dimm anyway, but the fact that manufacturers aren't including it as standard is just insulting at this point.

10MDSHP coupon no longer works.
I was able to apply the coupon without signing in, but once when I signed in the coupon became unapplicable.
