Need one for an 8' ceiling, but for those with taller ceilings this is a great deal.

Be aware this is 25" wide - you'll want to check your joists and measure your opening before buying.

That's exactly what you do — trim it to size to ensure the feet land on the floor level.

I just had a garage reno done and most ladders now are universal for 10' ceilings, trim for 8'. The instructions included this guidance.

I went from a bessler/sliding attic staircase to one of these things. This is almost as bad as going from central air to window units. It does require more room, but worth it imo. I never realized how good I had it.

Would you guys recommend wood stairs or the metal ones?

Mine's about 20+ years old and I felt it wiggle quite a bit the last time I was up there. I was looking to get someone to replace it but I wasn't sure if metal had disadvantages.
