The first wave of DualSense controllers have many reports with issues. They have an FCC ID that ends in the number 1, whereas the FCC ID on the redesigned controllers ends in the letter A. 1A has been seen on right side bottom of the box, usually on the newer colors.

If you don't get it, I am down to buy that controller for depreciated value 😂
Plus, I didn't think I needed an Amazon locker delivery, but again...
Here's hoping gas prices don't skyrocket overnight causing me to lose my $10 discount by paying that much in gas to drive the two miles RT to the locker...
Now to find a PS5. Those are simple to get, right? [/sarcasm]

I ordered through Walmart.com. I also used the Capital One Shopping browser extension which is $10 cash back on tech at Walmart, and used the Walmart Chase card for 5% cash back on Walmart.com. The Capital One extension offered to take the $10 off right then, or you could just save it to your account. I haven't seen that option before

I got the galactic purple in March, it started drifting this last week. My previous one that drifted was a white one, it lasted several months longer. I believe I had used it as much as I ended up using the purple one.
I also got a new white one in March and it has 1A on the FCC ID as well. that one hasn't started drifting, but I use it much less than the purple in comparison.

Weird because I got my ps5 on launch day and I have an A controller.

The A1 controllers probably just aren't old enough yet. Every current gen and last gen console uses the same potentiometers in their thumb sticks. That includes Xbox one, series x/s, Switch, PS4 and PS5 The potentiometers are rated for about 400 hours of average use. They're engineered to fail after a few months so they sell more controllers. It sucks, but unfortunately there's really no other choice. Even the $170 Elite controllers and other high end controllers use the same potentiometers.
