The app has 3 options:
Pickup at a local store ($35 min)
Delivery from local store ($35 min + tip)
Shipping (no min)

I worked for tips for years and I am against all forms of tipping. I now tip well because that is the norm and I've been there and know what it feels like. However no job should require you to live off of tips...

I agree that paying for a delivery service such as this and having to tip is ridiculous, especially for a company as financially successful as Walmart. They should pay your tip to the delivery person on behalf of your membership. If I pay $400 worth of groceries twice a month and then I have to pay a recommended 15-20% each delivery, that's a lot. What if $400 is my monthly budget? Obviously, the driver should get paid if they're bringing all of the groceries to the door but I shouldn't have to pay them out of my own pocket AND pay for your service.

This.

I've got a 3-month freebie. I still haven't used it.
I'm on my 3rd 3 month freebie in a row. It's convenient, it just turns out I don't actually do much online shopping at Walmart. Same day delivery on in-stock items is convenient, but I feel kind of bad making some delivery driver drop off $16 worth of stuff because I'm to lazy (or busy) to drive the 6 miles to get it myself.

Can you still sign up for a 90-day trial? I was only able to find a 30-day trial.

I was really looking forward to grocery delivery being available in my area but between the tip and the bag fee, I have a hard time justifying it. When I pick up a grocery order myself, they charge 5 cents per bag. When I have it delivered, they charge 50 cents per bag for the same exact bags. So there's "no delivery fee" but there basically is.
I have enjoyed the free shipping with no minimum from walmart.com via my Walmart+ free trial though so I will probably still end up getting in on this deal, just not for the reason that I would have originally thought.

Thanks OP Smilie

If you pick shipping, a lot of times they will deliver from the store for those items in stock and you don't have to worry about the tip. I don't know if Walmart covers the tip but doubt they are making at the moment trying to gain market share.

I have Walmart+ as a benefit for Amex platinum card and although it's a convenient service they have their issues too. They outsourced their same day delivery to I think Door Dash or something, I would say 2/5 times they would deliver to the wrong address and you would have to reorder everything. 1/5 times you might have missing stuff. Oh and say the stuff they delivered is expired or like a milk bottle leaking milk, they'll go oh please go to the Walmart store and return the item and then you have to call them back to haggle through either come pick up your stuff that's bad or credit me back. I would never pay for WM+ annual or monthly until I see an improvement.

For me it's worth it just for the ability to use scan & go in-store and to get free shipping from walmart.com without ordering $35 worth of stuff, and the gas discount is nice. This bonus will definitely make it worth my while. I've never ordered groceries to be delivered except for non-perishables on Amazon. I prefer to do my own grocery shopping in-store.
The thing I hate about Scan & Go is that you still have to wait in line at the self checkout. I wish they had a dedicated kiosk for Scan &
Go!

I'd probably tip cash if I ordered delivery from them, but it's illegal for Walmart to do that so I doubt it's true.

Against all forms of tipping? Trash.
The companies that hide behind the excuse of tipping and don't pay a living wage to their workers are trash. Anyone who makes excuses for billionaires who underpay their workers in that model is also trash.
