The app has 3 options:
Pickup at a local store ($35 min)
Delivery from local store ($35 min + tip)
Shipping (no min)

I worked for tips for years and I am against all forms of tipping. I now tip well because that is the norm and I've been there and know what it feels like. However no job should require you to live off of tips...

I agree that paying for a delivery service such as this and having to tip is ridiculous, especially for a company as financially successful as Walmart. They should pay your tip to the delivery person on behalf of your membership. If I pay $400 worth of groceries twice a month and then I have to pay a recommended 15-20% each delivery, that's a lot. What if $400 is my monthly budget? Obviously, the driver should get paid if they're bringing all of the groceries to the door but I shouldn't have to pay them out of my own pocket AND pay for your service.

AMEX platinum. $12.95/month. Walmart.com/Plus/AmexPlatinum - however, this link doesn't have the 25/50 or 50/75 so i'm wondering if I sign up on the discount link with my cc if the statement credit still applies?
Amex Plat W+ kicks in after your current subscription if you are already a W+ member. So you could sign up with this, then sign up through the amex link. But I am almost positive the walmart link is theatrics and AmEx will automatically credit a W+ charge if it is charged to the amex plat. Worst case scenario is you pay for the 1st month and get the coupon.

If you are annual and buy a monthly without cancelling your annual then the monthly subscription begins the month after your annual subscription ends.

Any source for this claim? It says in the app 100% of tips go to the drivers.

The companies that hide behind the excuse of tipping and don't pay a living wage to their workers are trash. Anyone who makes excuses for billionaires who underpay their workers in that model is also trash.
I've been lucky enough to work a tipped job in a state where restaurants are required to pay the full local minimum wage ($15/hour in my city) regardless of how much you make in tips, so I had the best of both worlds, but most servers and delivery drivers would rather work for minimum wage + tips instead of a living wage with no tips if they had to choose. You'll make a lot more with tips at any decently busy restaurant.

It would be illegal for Walmart to take their tips, so I very highly doubt it.

I've been a paid member since just before the pandemic and received the 'you're not eligible' message. While it'd certainly have been nice, I don't plan to cancel it.

Online ordering works for us as we add things to the app as we think of them, aren't roaming through the aisles dropping in things we don't need, and aren't hunting down obscure things that aren't where we'd think they'd be. I've received a wrong bag (they told us to keep it), had all the frozen items missing (they sent another driver with it), had substitutes I didn't like (and many we did, they refund any we don't like), received bread once that was expiring that day (they refunded it) and am grateful to have it and have had less exposure to covid and other fun stuff....and they're a mile from our house.

I'm mostly able to get deliveries same-day now and get by the $35 minimum by knowing staples we always use that I can add if I don't want to wait for the other items. That being said, I typically buy our meat elsewhere (other than their Wagyu beef 1/3 lb. burgers) and produce can be a hit or miss with any delivery service so if I'm out, I'll pick it up myself.

Regarding tipping - the default amounts are crazy so I check it and alter it every time, mostly tipping $4 for a standard order. I know it's a short drive, an easy to find house, and the Walmart workers dropped it in the back of their vehicle....and that they also could have incurred a long wait if the order wasn't ready or had to drive across town to get to the short delivery route. We've got the self-driving cars here but there are always one or two people in the cars. Drones are coming in a few months too but our big tree in the front might preclude us from using them but I'm sure we'll give it a try.

I don't get Amazon Fresh in my area and $35 Min for groceries is pretty easy to do. I'm on my second W+ 90 day trial, so far so good. Last Safeway pickup was pretty bad substitutes. Also W+ will do free shipping on other items, even food if it's not in stock right away. I've had my order split up for OOS and one delivery never made it so CR gave prompt refund.

I received an email that the Rx benefit will be ending 5/31, but no mention of extension. Did they send something in writing about that?
I recently overhauled my email due to Google Workspace and I can't find anything.

I did find this online.

"Also, Walmart quietly moved last month to discontinue its pharmacy discount rolled out last year. While the retailer did not put out a press release it notified subscribers they would no longer receive prescriptions free of charge for a large number of commonly prescribed drugs for chronic ailments like blood pressure and cholesterol maintenance. In the email obtained by Talk Business & Politics, Walmart said the "Rx for less" perk would end on May 31.

"We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience, and as a result will be extending your monthly membership by 2 months for free," Walmart noted in the email."

Mine was extended 6 months. My Walmart+ shows a renewal of Oct 31, 2022. It originally was April 30.

YMMV, but even if you're a current monthly member of Walmart+, they may give you a one time $25 promotional credit if you call customer service. They did it for me, and mine had no minimum order requirement. The only stipulation was it had to be sold by Walmart and not a 3rd party vendor.
