This popular inverter generator is on sale at Amazon at $679. It is less noisy than the Firman WH03242 that was on sale at Costco a couple months ago at $599 ($649 shipped).
It is $120 cheaper than a previous deal posted last year.

You can look into the battery/solar generators, like ecoflow or jackery. Though, strong ones are pretty spendy

If there's currently severe weather it's a little bit of a different story, however tossing them underneath a folding table or something else with open sides that is preferably flame retardant/heat resistant will preclude any issues. Alternatively there are generator covers, although those are both pricier and single purpose while still saying they shouldn't be operated in anything other than normal weather.
