The checked luggages are made out of the cheaper ABS material. They aren't as durable as polycarbonate and are more easily crack. If you're looking for a hard side case, better to stick with polycarbonate.

Looks like even the Samsonite PC luggage don't stand a chance against baggage handling or abuse at the airport and that's NOT covered under the warranty as clearly stated on their warranty info. Would a soft side be better? I've seen some rip before too so not sure which is the lesser evil.
