Amazon has Educational Insights Circuit Explorer Base Space Station Building Toy Set on sale for $15.29 > Now: $15.07. Shipping is free w/ Prime or on $25+ orders.

Thanks to Deal Hunter savvyshopper7903 for posting this deal.

About this Product:
  • Circuit Explorer is a simple building set with built-in connections, but instead of creating flat circuits on a flat board, kids are building realistic-looking 3D toys that light up and move!
  • Just follow the directional arrows to connect the pieces correctly, building the pieces and activating lights and motion. It's simple, but also clearly introduces the basics of building circuits – Power On + Conductor + Power Off = Effect.
  • Requires a total of 15 AAA batteries, not included.

We have this a d the other sets that go with it. I got them on deals at least as good as this in the past. It is a cute set, but it doesn't actually teach a whole lot about circuits. The diagrams are shown on the sides of the few pieces that have connections, but it is just as easy to tell how to out them together without worrying about the circuit diagrams. My 9yo likes it but he doesn't pull it out to play very often., so I wouldn't rate it too highly on the hours of distraction it would provide. He likes the hexbug space station set much more.

Last time I bought something from them it was DOA. My bad because I didn't realize in time, but ended up eating the $s of the purchase. Womp womp.

I also said "15 AAA batteries?".
It looks like each separate component requires 3 AAA batteries, so you could get by with fewer (but then you'd also be moving batteries around for your kid).

If it really taught the kids something, it would probably be worth all the batteries. I'm a little skeptical that it's really teaching the kids about circuits or electricity, though. Might be teaching kids something about putting pieces of a puzzle together though.

Still, more educational than many things people pay an equal amount for. I'd opt for a cheap tool set for the kid, and find some wood pieces and create a simple project, and spend time building something with a kid. Teaches them planning skills, measuring skills (including basic math), and tool skills. Or come up with a sewing project (same skills), or cooking together.

From the Target link:
EVERYTHING YOU NEED to build a Deluxe Base Station with Towers, Spinning Diner Sign, Planetarium with color-changing dome light, Voice Synthesizer Station with 10 space sounds, Communication Station with rotating Radar Dish, a Powered Space Rover and a freewheeling Space Rover both with light-up headlights. Also includes astronaut and robot figures for pretend play, and stickers for customization. Base, Dome Light, Voice Synthesizer, Communication Station, and Space Rovers require 3 AAA batteries each, not included.

Joke on me! Seen the 🔋 thing AFTER purchasing..I could probably cancel but seems like it's still really need for a toy under $20 that requires some brain effort. I'm always down for adding one of those to the collection.
